Our original Beck’s is a classic German lager beer with a distinctive full-bodied taste, fresh "hoppy" bouquet, golden color and full rich head. Adding to its complexity is a slightly fruity but firm crispness and a dry, clean finish.

Une bière de grande consomation qui ne se démarque pas des heineken ou 1664. Peu de gout, pétillante, très liquide et rafraichissante, l’arrière gout est un peu dur et amère. Manque d’arôme. Elle se présente bien dans un verre.

660ml bottle from local shop.Yellow gold colour, white foamy head and malty grassy aroma. Taste is malty, grain, papery with some grassy bitterness. Light bodied, high carbonation, grassy metallic bitter finish. OK cold.

Bottle. Clear golden body with a short-lived white head. Lively carbonation. No lacing. Aroma of used tea towel, grain, sweetcorn and metal. Flavour of metallic bitterness and lemon. Thin body with a watery texture. Soft fizz. Astringent and metallic.

From a fresh bottle. I haven’t had this for some years. This lager met my low expectations. An adequate, mildly bitter pils.

Clear pale yellow, thin white skim, sparse lacing. Light grainy cereals, some citrus, and grass. Helps that this came from a 16oz can. Light bodied, moderate carbonation, gentle sweetness, rounded finish. Passable.

Bottled, 33 cl. Color of bright transparent amber, visible fizz and no head. Aroma: muted hops. Palate is first felt on the tongue, later it comes on the roof of the mouth. Taste: light and sweet, later bitter.

Ulice 9/8 2015. 50 cl can from local market (Voli). Pours clear very pale yellow with big white head. Settles quickly leaving thin lacing. Aroma is sweetish with a sour tang. Medium carbonation. Taste follows the nose and is dominated by sweetish malts. Aftertaste is sourish. Ok thirst quencher if consumed cold. Should not be enjoyed lukewarm.

22 oz bottle purchased for $2. I’m not really sure what is more interesting; this beer, or the articles online that surround it. I’ve read about the possibility of AB halting the brand, all the way to them paying people back their money (and then some) for drinking it. All because people can’t fathom the idea of an imported beer being brewed in their backyard. Or in this way, the great gateway to the west. I’m not one to care. When it comes to this kind of beer, I tend to remain on the less picky side. Although a US brewed Becks VS a German brewed Becks would be a fun blind taste test. All of this added up to the thought crossing my mind that I better rate this before I lose my opportunity. That, coupled with the fact that growing up, this was my Dad’s favorite beer, and drank it about as much as I drink every other beer combined. I suppose I also hadn’t submitted a long, random, rambling review in a while, so I guess I’m killing a half dozen birds with one beer. I felt very silly pouring this into a glass, but I did for color and appearance reviews alone. Don’t worry, I’ll drink the rest properly out of the bottle. When it comes to green bottle, premium import/export (see above) lagers, this one is decently refreshing and most importantly, finishable. Nearly transparent pale yellow color with an aroma that filled the room upon cracking it open. Extremely light flavor. About as watery as they come. There isn’t a single flavor strong enough to identify or point out. I certainly wouldn’t use the word "complex" in it’s description, but no heavy complaints here. Just an average, water forward light lager. For two bucks, I’m sure I’ll find myself in a "why not?" mood again someday.
