Very malty nose, golden, pours a small firm white head, leaves some lace. Tastes is sweet malt, hops are seemingly absent. Light bodied, softly sweet. Ordinary, but a nice little beer from this country. It comes in a bottle like Duvel(recycled?) The bottle I had said it was 5.2% abv. A big Thank You to Laf-o for the headsup on this one!

330 ml bottle in Sudan. Pours a pale yellow with short head. Aroma has some heavy spices in it that are hard to place, but pleasant. Taste is unlike the aroma and has a slight cardboard taste. Palate ends with some sourness.

Bottle at a tourist restaurant in Addis. Cloudy yellow with a rapidly disappearing white head. Aroma of bread of candy. Sweet taste with a slight bitter edge. Interesting but not great.

I first experienced Bedele at a local Ethiopian restaurant and thought it was the perfect accompaniment to my spicy dibs dinner. I’ve had both the regular and the larger bottle size, the latter of which lasted me through the dessert. Slightly cloudy yellow color, malty taste with a subtle hint of honey. Just a great beer to go with any spicy meal.

Bottle -- Very pale, cloudy yellow (actually pretty similar in appearance to a Belgian white but without all that froth) with a small white head. Not much retention but a bit of lacing. Sweet malty aroma. Not a bad palate, with much more going on than I’m used to in a pale lager. Flavour is more malty sweetness with a little sourness at the end. Not at all bad.

Bottled. Pours a pale straw color with lacy white head. The aroma is flowers, fruit and bubblegum. Light body and carbonation. The taste is spicy, mango malt with a lightly bitter finish.

Clear golden body with a thin, almost non-existent, white head. No Skunk! Woohoo! Malty, slightly sweet, aroma with some toffee and honey. Thin to moderate body, surprisingly full. The flavor is quite malty with almost no hop character. I'm really wondering if this is what a well-kept, aged light lager tastes like. Not skunky or oxidized, but there is no hop character and an odd smoothness and thickness to the body. A truly interesting experience, especially considering what I was expecting. The world is so damn intriguing...
