A deep red-brown beer with a collapsing brown head. The aroma is sweet roasted - but a bit light for my liking. The flavor is sweet roasted, with a slightly citrus hoppy end, and a very smooth mouthfeel.

Very dark brown. Slightly nutty arom with a fair bit of roast. Medium body. Good balance of nutty, toasty, slightly coffeeish elements. Not overly bitter, but which of their beers is?

(RBSG05) A red-black body is topped by a tan head that dissipates fairly quickly. Aroma is medium sweet, chocolate, light roast. Taste is medium sweet, some chocolate, some roasty, no bitterness in the aftertaste. Watery, soft, light-medium body.

Deep black stout with a moka head. Nice roasted coffee beans, malt and good hops in aroma. Nice roasted malts in mouth, with light hops notes. Smooth but a bit short in mouth. On tap summer 2005, with Rastacouere.

Good for a dry stout. Dark brown, chocolate malt helped drinkability. Lacey, posted at brewpub as an oatmeal stout.

UPDATED: OCT 2, 2005 The Lure:
Roasted malt and acidic hints coat the crushed coffee beans.

The Festivities:
Roasted malt and coffee-ish bitterness paint a light body and unobstrusive ending. A few grapes peek through once in a while, but never stay. This is drier and roastier than their Dernière Brosse Extra Stout, with bigger bubbles and a hoppier ending.

Summer does accept its moments of darkness.

On tap at Bedondaine et Bedons Ronds, pours black with an amber tinge with almost no head. Aroma of oats, bitter cocoa powder and no roast presence. Flavour of oatmeal, bitter dry cocoa and some espresso beans. Thin palate, but nice and dry. Very good.

Pours a transparent, but dark brown with a deep, forthy tan head with clumpy lacing. Aroma is lightly sweet and caramely with a nice roasty presence. Body is a little light for a stout but has a nice toasty malt, semi-sweet, mildly bitter balance. The smooth body aids in its overall drinkability.

Close to black, light brown head, lasting as a cover forever and sticking to the glass as much as one can. Anise and oat chunks dominate the aroma that also contains salty and coffee hints to pair the roasted malts. Malty nature is a bit smokey. Smooth and light palate, easy drinking stout. The little hops there are create a lightly floral tang while some green vegetal flavors are admitted to morph into a more than honest bitterness, aptly matching the roastiness that is devoid of any trace of acidity.

Black body with a small tan head. I guess it wasn’t the best batch when I decided to rate this one. Very little in terms of roastiness/coffee/chocolate. Flavour of generic black (non-chocolate) cake. Mildly hopped with fruity notes of grape juice and a light astringency. Overall it felt “juicy”. This is the regular entry stout from one of the best brewpub I know. I’m sure it is usually better than that, this pint was a below-par stout. I’ll wait a few months and get another pint from a different batch. Oh well, even Tiger Woods misses a short putt once in a while.
