But sur place, 12 oz. Noir nocturne avec un collet beige moyen. Arome de café fort (je pense que je vais bientôt boire du vrai café). Goût très intéressant de malte torrifier et de café. Ça buzz!

[on tap at brewpub] Opaque black with some tan head that was not held up by nitrogen. Roasted malt and sherry aroma with some hops blended in nicely. Excellent chocolate and coffee, roasty flavour that wasn’t winey as some stouts tend to be, plus a hint of liquorice. Smooth, edium to full body with moderate carbonation and a lasting, yet pleasant, dark malt bitterness.

Black in colour with ruby edges, beige coloured head, good retention, lots of lacing. The aroma is quite roasty, some dark chocolate, coffee with milk. The flavour has lots of chocolate, roasted coffee, some light liquorice, mocha, nutty. Lightly bitter mouthfeel, medium body, medium carbonation. Finishes long, creamy and roasty. This is along the lines of DDC Déesse Nocturne, quite good.

I think this was the beer that drove the point home. My second trip to Montreal, already 3 stops at Dieu du Ciel with never a very satisfying experience. I now realized, wow, I like this place way better. The atmosphere, personality... the immense, historic bottle collection and, of course, the foozball table. And then lets not forget all these wonderfully crafted, interesting beers. This place kicks ass.

Anyway, this was tied for the best beer I had here, with the imperial stout (Reve). Rich oatmeal aroma, a pure roastiness and great bitter coffee finish. Flavor is big on the coffee, bitter malts, and dark chocolate extraordinaire.

It’s nice to be able to get that off my chest. I like this place better than Dieu du Ciel. I like this place better than Dieu du Ciel. There, I said it. Don’t hurt me. Next time in Montreal I know what my first stop will be.

Rich oatmeal, light roast and hops, creamy and balanced. A tasty end to a fun day in the country. Thanks for the taste Jens.

Beershine (5195) - The Sunshine State, Florida, USA - JUN 3, 2012
Draft at brewpub. Nearly black, stable tan head. Aroma of oaty sweetness, and lively natural oat maltiness. Silky and smooth with low carbo. Great flavor profile with one of the oatier oatmeal stouts ive had in a while. Good malt character, balance, and authenticity. Well done. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

(4 oz sampler) 2005 Cidres & Crepes in the Eastern Townships. Brown creamy head with a near opaque body. Deep coffee and vanilla nose. Watery texture yet rich chocolate and coffee flavours. Too thin but very good!

Largish sample at the brewpub with the Kuhnhenns, tiggmtl and ClarkVV. Stunningly thick, opaque black with just a stitch of lasting dark head...big, chocolaty nose, with hint of roasty coffee and caramelized grain here and there...great balance between the sweet, slightly lactic milk-chocolate and burnt grains, touches of maple...finish a bit too sour...nose much stronger and more potent near the end of the sample.

draught. deep brownish-black with a slight tinge of ruby and a big frothy mocha head leaving significant lacing. the aroma is fairly nice - cream, chocolate, raisins, and a slight sour note. flavours are nice though maybe a little bit straightforward. smooth bittersweet chocolate and raisins. the finish is ripe with leafy bitterness. I enjoyed this.

en fût sur place, bière noire, mousse beige, agréable nez de torréfaction , en bouche tout est en rondeur finesse, silky, moins bonne que la dernière brosse,
