Sampled at the brewpub, RBSG 2005 cider tour aftermath. Hazy dark amber, thick lace and lasting creamy head...mint, juniper and a touch of caramel in the sweet enveloping aroma...beautiful milky-creamy body, soft vanilla, creme de menthe, caramel swirling through the lovely malt, little if any hops. Could be a bit too sweet and sticky..but I’m giving it the benefit of the doubt, and hope you will too.

Juniper and rye dominate a sweet minty aroma. Clear, deep copper coloured body with low but lasting white head that laces nicely. Mint figures prominently in the very very sweet, malty flavour. Medium body with fair carbonation. Enjoyed on tap at the brewpub with the RBSG’05 Sunday gang.

07.10.05 Tap at brewpub, RBSG tour. Dark amber copper with tall white head, rocky, brainy; sheets of thick lace. Aroma is spicy ginger, corriander, mint, tobacco leaves (pouch). Fantastci, light fresh, tons of herbs. Some fruit, white grapse maybe. So soft, the body, and just maybe lacking in eff. Mint comes through more and more, building with temp. The cooling is a very unusual effect.

Like mint and juniper...I think it would make a great sauce for venison. As for beer, let’s take a look. Golden-amber colour. Strong peppermint aroma (not mint, that’s a different plant). Very herbal character. Quite sweet, minty, punctuated with juniper. The elements are there, and are reasonably well-integrated aside from perhaps needing more hop. I just wasn’t compelled. They should add some venison to the keg.

RBSG on draught at the brewpub This produced a frothy head over an orage/gold body. Floral spice and mint accompany fruit plate and melon in the aroma. Fruity with a mint finish. Very interesting and different beer from a brewer’s perspective.

(RBSG05) Clear amber body with an off-white head. Aroma is medium sweet, orange, light caramel. Taste is moderately sweet, orange, some caramel, light earthy. Smooth, light-medium body, light stickiness.

Verre de dégustation à la brasserie. Arôme: Odeur de menthe et d’épices. Apparence: Couleur blonde dorée. Mince col mousseux. Aucune bulle. Fine dentelle sur le verre. Saveur: Goût de menthe poivrée. Durée moyenne de l’arrière goût. Palette: Le corps est moyen et la texture huileuse. Moyenne effervescence en bouche. Arrière goût astringent. (Rating #208)

Pours a clear bronze with a nicely-lacing white head. Lightly malty, unique minty aroma has some faintly floral hops and juniper. Body is full and malty with an enjoyable, subtle minty flavor and a sticky, semi-bitter finish. A well-brewed beer, but I’m not quite sure I like the mint character. I think the mint would work better with a chocolatey, sweet or imperial stout.

Orange-amber hue, thin foamy head, big accent of mint flowers, with a fruity side of juniper, blueberry, and herbs aromas follow through on a medium-bodied palate with a juniper, blueberry, peppermint candy, minty leaves, also kind of botanical leafy accent, crystal malt in a bitterness finish.
