3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 ClarkVV (3578) - Allston, USA - FEB 13, 2007
UPDATED: OCT 22, 2007 Draught tulip at the brewpub on 1/28/07 Medium bronze colored body is lightly glassy, but otherwise clear with sparse carbonation. Small off-white head fizzles to partial cover quickly, leaving little/no lacing. Strong mint in the nose is dry and very estery. Light grains behind it are also dry but some moderate pale malt sweetness is notable on the finish, giving it a somewhat creme de menthe aroma. No alcohol or flaws, but in my opinion, either it’s got too much mint in it, or mint does not allow much beer aroma in a medium-high gravity pale/amber beer. Dry, very zesty mint gives a bit of a burn at the beginning of the flavor, followed by sweet cream-like pale maltiness and a hint of caramel. But with the mint oils and strong, drying/warming flavor, you just can’t find much of the beer other than to say that there is some sweetness. Lively carbonation, a touch watery at times. Interesting, I guess, but I dont think it works too well in this type of beer (a stout or gruit would seem more appropriate). Would not have guessed there was rye in here, nor juniper, though in retrospect there did seem to be a bit of astringent juniper berry juiciness towards the finish, as the mint relaxes.

on tap at the brewpub. pours a clear amber with a thick tan head. aroma is dominated by mint and malts. the taste is aso loaded with mint and malt. the brewer did a fantastic jb at perfectly fusing the two without making it over the top minty. very impressive. light bodied and mediu carbonation, this is a refreshing beer that offers very unique flavours as well. a good word to describe this brew is, fun. it’s a very fun beer to experience.

UPDATED: JUL 26, 2010 On tap at Bebondaine. The color is copper with a thick beige head. The aroma has mint in it but much more of malt. The taste is of mint, hops berry fruits and the sweetness of malt. This is different as beers go but very pleasant.

BQ2010. Sampled on Draft at Bedondaine et Bedons Ronds. This is the only brew that really stood out and kicked me in the face. Mint taste is so strong that is like drinking scope. As disgusting as that sounds... this beer was inventive and interesting - although the flavors were not inviting multiple pints.

Tasted this beer while on Beer Quest 2010 with the guys. This was beer number 62. Mint brew was very original. The pour was a medium orange. Some head. Nice lacing. Aroma was a little rough with the mints. The flavor however does have a nice minty-ness to it. Surprising and interesting.

Visited Bedondaine et Bedons Ronds during BeerQuest 2010, our 3rd visit here. Sampled this over a competitive game of scrabble w/ some friends we met in Montreal. This is the only brew that really stood out and kicked me in the mouth. Mint taste is so strong that is like drinking scope. As disgusting as that sounds... this beer was inventive, interesting, and pretty damn fantasy... I think Frodo drank this stuff in the shire. Brews like this are why beer is fun.

Clear yellow. White head with average retention. Aroma is malt, herbs, mint, and juniper berries. Similar flavor. Well done, but not an every day beer.

(automne 2006)
3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 MJGG (779) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - JUL 20, 2009
