In short: A well done basic pilsner going easy on everything.
How: Tap at brewpub
The look: Clear blonde body topped by a medium white head with medium retention
In long: Nose is moderately hoppy with dry grassy notes of saaz. Body has enough cereals to meet the moderate hopping. Taste of dandelions, a touch of honey, hay, straw, light pineapples, light citrus. Bitterness and dryness are in the light-medium range. Overall clean and crisp. Very well done but just not very tasty. This might be a good classic example of the style but I got used to the modern cranked-up takes on this classic style. I thought I had that beer before. I’m surprised The beer name is a play with words in French. I despise play with words and vegetarians, I think it’s a missed steak.

Drank on tap (20 oz) at the brewpub, April 3, 2010. Hazy yellow straw, medium head. Good aroma of Saaz hops, with notes of lemon peel and herbs. Taste of dry Saaz, many herbs, notes of lemon juice, dry bitterness. A good pilsner unceremonious!

My Bud friend was like "That tastes nothing". I was like "subtilities, man". He still had no problem finishing his pint in 10 minutes (his girlfriend was with him so he was very slow. Hazy yellowish unfiltered color, with a fresh hop bouquet. Citrusy and cerealish with a "not-so-subtle" leafy hop presence after a few sips. I don’t know if you chose "Head or Tail" but you won. I hadn’t had much pils in my life but I believe this was my favorite.

(Rating #2954)

Golden color, with a thick white head, mild honeyed sweet earthy grainy pale, plisener malt nose with a hint of fresh cut hay, and light floral grassy hop aroma follows through a light-bodied palate with a light yeasty bubblegum, crunchy pale malt cereal character, with a mild flowery hop citrusy accent, leading towards a honeyed malt, hop leafy, citrusy, dry bitterness finish.

UPDATED: MAR 27, 2010 My Bottom Line:
This quenching hybrid of a Pilsener melds hay-like malts and herbal, grassy noble hoppiness into a characterful example of the style.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam covers the hazy pale yellow straw.
-The rural aroma (haystacks and herbs) is wonderfully inviting.
-This Pilsener is between the German and Czech styles; German for its malt choice and hop signature, Czech in its fluffier mouthfeel (not as crisp as the German) and slightly sweeter flavor profile.
-Citrusy thoughts pervade the flavor profile.

On tap at the brewpub a few times.
