On tap at Bedondaine et Bedons Ronds, pours black with a small light brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, licorice, roasted malt and bitter dark chocolate. Flavour of dark chocolate, toffee and some licorice in the background. Quite full-bodied and satisfying, though missing robustness and complexity as in the best impy stouts.

On tap at Bedondaine. Pours a deep black with a medium sized tan head. Roast, chocolate and char on the nose. Lightly sweet with nice roast notes. Toast, char and a touch of warm grain. Nice and easy drinking with a long roast finish.

12 onz. Pitch black small mocha head that last. A: Chocolaty, intense coffee / roastiness, alcohol, caramel. F: Full body nice bitter roasty finish a bit of hotness from the alcohol. O: Pretty tasty brew

on tap at the brewpub. pours pitch black with a thin but tight mocha head. aroma is your typical roasted malts and chocolate. taste is more on the sweet side with little traces of hops. very nice. where this beer somewhat disappoints is in its mouthfeel. a little thin for its style, doesn’t quite have that punch that other impy’s have. this however, does make it very drinkable.

Tap at brewpub, aged for a year. Strangely similar to their new Ricochet 4% stout, almost as thin and watery, which makes it a very easy to drink IS. It is just slighlty more malted and rich and not much more hoppy. Brownies and espresso, with some fruit subtilities but the depth in the taste is not as impressive as others in this style. Probably not a brew on the same level as many of their great offerings.

On tap at brewpub. 5oz sampler. Aroma is roasted malt and some sweetness. Taste is like aroma. A bit syrupy-like sweetness. Thought it was better than Bedon but less than Derniere Brosse. Still a quality product !!

en fût sur place, une bière noire comme la nuit au nez de torréfaction et d’iode, bouche agréable de café, complexe, savoureuse.

Huge, chocolately roast aroma, slightly minty, belgian sweets. Burnt dark black pour, with a flavor that could use similar descriptors. Dark chocolate all the way, so strong, so defining, absolutely wonderful. It is beautiful! This to me sits among those old-school, lower grav imperial stouts that offer so much more in the way of complexity and personality. I love those too, but this is a very nice break.
