2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 godofsky (262) - Montréal, Quebec, CANADA - DEC 7, 2010
on tap at the brewpub. pours dark yellow, almost orange, with a thin white head that quickly goes away. aroma has mild notes of hops, while the toasty cereal and bready notes completely take over. taste is sweet, but i’m not getting as much maple syrup as i thought i would. somewhat disappointing. medium bodied, sticky almost syrupy on the palate with low carbonation. not bad but not very good either.
2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 Glouglouburp (4773) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - FEB 7, 2009
In short: A sweet and bland maple syrup flavoured entry level golden ale
How: Tap at brewpub. Aged 9 months batch
The look: Clear dark golden body topped by a little white ring of foam
In long: Shy sweet nose. Seems like this maple-syrup beer looses its maple syrup character when aged because this batch served at 9 months of age only delivered a little maple syrup flavour. Nothing wrong with that if the beer had something else going for it but it doesn’t. Body is rather bland with soft carbonation and slightly oily texture. Flavour of some kind of juice with brown sugar and some maple syrup. Too sweet with nothing to dry it out and no bitterness whatsoever. Alcohol is apparent despite the moderate 8% abv. I’ll try this when fresh. This aged batch was a gimmicky beer called Lollipop sold to suckers.
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 Lubiere (6979) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 9, 2008
A lightly hazed golden ale with a thin white head. A lightly iodine start, with belgian hops and maple, sweet aroma. In mouth, a rather light beer, sweet maple, rather short in mouth. Light bodied.

(Rating #1912)

Aroma of the malt is like humbugs, deep amber, small custard head. Taste starts with malt, some alcohol is noted. Medium bodied, really well balanced, good tongue tingle. Very impressive.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 muzzlehatch (4425) - Burlington, Vermont, USA - JUL 4, 2007
12 ounce glass at the brewpub, in the company of tiggmtl, June 16 2007. Maple-brass in color, oily with just a bit of lasting head....faint fresh maple nose, light pale malts below, a touch of dry herbs (rosemary, thyme)......on the tongue, very very sweet, syrupy, thick and rather flat, somewhat oily/slick in texture towards the finish, low carbonation....doesn’t work for me overall, definitely one of the weakest beers I’ve had here.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 mds (2119) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 30, 2007
Draught. Clear orange-gold with a soapy white ehad. Soft biscuit aroma with pleasant honey and maple cereal sweetness . The flavour is fluffy, sweet, and not cloying at all. Maple and honey with toasty cereal in the finish.
Sampled at the brewpub on June 3, 2007.
