MBison (376), Southern Highlands, Australia May 18, 2008 Updated: Jul 28, 2008RE-RATE: Bottle (330ml). Poured a muddy orange copper with a large, dense, frothy, off-white head which lasted very well. Aroma was of sweet fruity hops with mangos, canned peaches, pineapple and some toffee malts. Flavor was a good hop bitterness with toffee malts, mangos, apricots, rock melon and some resin/passionfruit in the finish. Medium bodied with soft carbonation, a dry mouthfeel and a good finish. Muggus69 (218), Sydney, Australia Mar 5, 2008 330ml bottle served chilled. Dense creamy white head atop a hazy copper body. Typically citrusy nose, a touch of pine and unripe rockmelon that seems a bit more uncommon with an underlying, carboardy yeasty element that often seems to crop up in Aussie-made APAs. Moderate carbonation, medium body, slight drying grittiness possibly due to the cloudiness. Big hop presence on the body; unripe rockmelon, grapefruit zest, pinecones, with some underlying toffee. Lingering bitter finish, slightly gritty on the tongue. Not a bad APA, bit similiar to other Aussie clones though. m_peve (28), Bolwarra, Australia Jun 23, 2007 Wonderful pineapple aromas. Good clarity and a medium lasting head. The ale is medium bodied. Flavour is where the beauty lies. It is citrusy, with the balance favouring hops more than malt and a moderately bitter aftertaste. This beer is an excellent example of a hop driven American style Pale Ale. Linc (736), Sydney, Australia May 25, 2007 These guys are starting to get a bit of consistency. Slightly aged bottle, with buttery malt and a little paper, but a decent grapefruit presence and a crisp dry finish. OK, balanced beer. winkle (440), Brisbane, Australia Apr 11, 2007 Bottled: Looks good, citrus and pineapple aromas. Palate is ok, flavours seem citrus centric but ok, lingering bitter finish. OKish but needs the volume knob turned up louder.
