Black pour with a tan lace. Malt cherry aroma. Chocolate malt flavour with a slight roastiness. Very nice. Lacks a bit of body.

2012-01-11. Black body with a nice creamy tan head and lace. 4+ Pleasant modest aroma, mild roast, light tangy cherry fruit. 7+ Flavour is similar, light bitter roast, dry chocolate cocoa accents, very mild tart cherry accents. 7++ Smooth average plus bodied palate is nice, just a touch light for the style. 3+ Decent, a bit more of everything would step it up a notch for my tastes. Nitro tap at Beer Academy, Toronto
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Spab (1646) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 31, 2012
On tap at the brewery. Pours a very dark brown with average, lasting, creamy beige head. Aroma is roasty, chocolatey malt with a hint of fruity sweetness. Flavour is also most prominently of roast chocolate with the cherry a little more apparent. Reasonably silky mouthfeel. Average body. Nice.

Tap at Beer Academy:
Aroma: soft feel , rather mild in approach. Dark malts with light cherry backing. Well paired and balanced. 7+
Apperance: poured as dark brown , creamy beige espresso like looking top.
Taste/Palate etc. Dry front , medium bodied ale with refreshing clean character. Cherry feel is light , secondary to dry dark malt notes. Good.

Cherry goes good with their porter. This on tap at the Academy was suitable but sweet infused rather than tart and real cherry feel. Still drinkable.

Deep, deep black pour with a dark brown nitro head. The nose is lovely. A faint whiff of cherry aroma over some heavily roasted dark malt. Cocoa and dark chocolate with a little bit of coffee. Soft bitterness and a lingering smooth sweetness. A damn lovely brew - although it's not all that cherry flavoured.

Nitro draught at Beer Academy. Dark almost-black body with a thick tan head. Aroma of chocolate-covered cherries with backing notes of coffee and a bit of smoke. Flavour has the chocolate/cherry combo as well, with a subtle lactic sourness, and a roasty dryness. Body is medium-full and a bit creamy thanks to the nitro. Really well made and tasty, with a great balance between the fruit and the base beer.
