2012-09-14. Hazy dark orange amber body, nice beige head and lace. 3+ Flavour is odd at first, quite sweet, with a good amount of sweet malt Character, but a nice sweet orange hops comes through eventually. Mild bitterness lingers in the finish. Modest hops in the aroma, light leafy green touches, toasty caramel malt. Medium bodied palate. Too much malt prominence, this is a hoppy pale ale. Almost seems like it needs to ferment out further to drop some of the sweetness? On tap at Beer Academy, Toronto

Hazy amber colour with a nice beige head and lace. Aroma is moderately hoppy, earthy and toasty caramel malt. Taste is quite sweet-- good amount of malts and some citrusy hops come through. Mild bitterness that lingers in the finish.

IPA Alpha bottle. 6.0% abv. 28 srm. 60 ibu. Pours a clear caramel with a two finger, fluffy head that sticks a bit. Aroma is great with notes of caramel, resin, tropical fruits, and a hint of pint. Taste is balanced with notes of lemon, a hint of resin, pine, and pineapple, and mild caramel. Medium body and carbonation. Clean in the mouth. Overall a nice aroma but I don?t care for the taste. Too much lemon for me.

Bottle from the brewery. Hazy amber with a large fluffy off white head that hangs around and leaves a bit of lace. Nose of light caramel and a lot of citrus including lemon mango and pineapple as well as hints of pear and honey. Light sweet start with a tart citrus middle and a lingering bitter finish. Medium mouth with average carbonation. Oddly different. Drinkable but not as good as the ’beta’.

Draft - Mango and tropical fruits. Hazy gold with a nice white head. Orange pee, citrus bitterness and caramel. Not bad, but not too adventurous.

625 mL bottle from the brewery, served in a stem glass alongside their "Beta" IPA. Pours clear orange-amber with a small off-white head that fades to a thin remnant and leaves a small amount of fine lace. The nose has notes of caramel and biscuity pale malts, along with delicate piney-floral hop notes with a touch of citrus. The flavour is moderately sweet up front with caramel, citrus and perhaps a hint of tropical fruit. Hops pick up a bit through the middle, imparting a slight piney-citrus balance. The finish is medium in length and mildly bitter with lingering biscuity malts. On the palate it is medium in body with a smooth, almost syrupy, texture and soft carbonation. Overall, an acceptable English-style IPA with some citrus. Not the most complex or interesting. The newer version is much better. 2014-08-13

Bendrixian (1492) - Canadiana, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 2, 2014
On tap at brewery. Slightly hazy, light brown/red colour. Muted aroma with a burnt malty character and some yeasty notes as well but does show some citrus, eventually. Grainy and malty on the palate with grassy hoppy finish. Very medium bodied and very forgettable IPA. Would not have another.

berkshirejohn (6067) - Bracknell, Berkshire, ENGLAND - MAY 31, 2014
On tap at the brewery tasting rooms. Bright amber with scummy cream head; sweet aroma; citrusy taste with some sultanas and a grainy body; and a dry and pleasantly bitter finish. Rather muted in style.

[on tap at brewpub] Citrusy aroma together with a prominent sweet caramel apple and some earthy hops notes. Almost crystal clear ruddy bronze under a persistent, lacy off-white, patchy sheet. Flavour is sweet malt up front, combined with subdued pine, citrus, and pineapple hops and bitter cardboard. I fear oxidation in this beer since the hops flavours and aromas were very week. Bitterness comes in late and lingers. Medium to full body, faint lingering bitterness, moderate carbonation.

Lubiere (12970) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 19, 2013
A lightly hazed copper amber IPA with a thin mocha head. In aroma, grassy caramel malt with grassy hops, ok. In mouth, a roasted caramel with grassy notes, grassy hops, burned.

Gethinbeer (2452) - Nova Scotia, CANADA - APR 1, 2013
UPDATED: DEC 26, 2014 Hazy copper with a white head and lace. Hop aroma. Citrus hop flavour. Caramel feel smooths out the bitterness. Very refreshing.
