COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Malty dark ale with some complexity that is flavorful and character that exhibits a mild smoke character. It is very dark brown in appearance with ruby color highlights with minimum hop flavor. Hints of chocolate and coffee in the nose, finishing with a medium body, and a full tan colored head. More aggressive than a standard porter. This beer pairs well with roasted or smoked foods like barbecue, sausages, roasted meat and blackened fish. A portion of sales go to support the creation of a preservation fund for the historic 300+ years-old Brock’s Mill located in Trenton, North Carolina.

Bomber. Pours a soda brown with dark amber hues and rich 2-finger tan head that leaves a fair amount of lacing. Aroma of roasted dark malts, smoke and smoked meats. Taste is roasted dark malts, smoked meats (ham and bacon), dark chocolate, hints of coffee and tobacco. Slightly dry finish. Medium bodied, slightly thin texture, average carbonation. Would pair well with any kind of BBQ or smoked meats. Very nice!

Absolutely love the story behind this brewery, but this beer did not do much for me. I thought it was lacking a lot to be a solid craft beer.

Pours a burnt mahogany into the glass, with a fizzy tan head that diminishes to a small retentive head that leaves sparse lacing. The nose is of bubblegum, smoked meats, peat and campfire essence. This camp-smoked porter offering has flavors of yeasty sours, muddy chocolates, light red vinous notes, lots of smoked peat, closing with a drier tannin finish. The mouthfeel is indeed smoky, red and vinous, with soft carbonation and a fuller body. This tends to come together nicely, and I think with a touch of aging, could be perfect at the right meeting/occasion. Out of the box, it’s not a knock whatsoever, but in the right aged environment, it will do an incredible pairing job.

Tap at SAMs. Pours reddish brown, slightly thin and English looking with a small off white head. Nose is sour roasted malt, light metallic notes, bittersweet chocolate, and charred firewood. Flavor is a little more complex and smokey. I enjoyed this beer.

Draught. Pours a very dark brown color with a moderate off-white head on it. Nose was a nice little porter - had a dark and fairly roasty nose with just a hint at some sourness in there. Taste was nice and roasty as well, with just a hint at some smokiness in there. Nice drink.

draft at the Taproom in New bern This was a sample of the porter and the color was light brown not as dark as some porters. Nice head formation with lacing. There was was some chocolate on the nose. The taste was of roasted malts and with a hint of smokiness. The porter had soft carbonation and a nice finish. This version needs more body.
