2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Cask at Craft Islington, 21/02/13.
Hazed mahogony brown with a medium tan head that retains well.
Nose is dark malt, dark fruits, raisens, light spice, cardboard.
Taste comprises dark malts, dark fruits, papery, biscuit.
Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, dry in the finish.
Pretty average fayre - seems to hold as many ESB like qualities as it does porter - bit of a mish mash, not one to return to.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tasty but a bit thin for my liking. I like them with a bit more oomph. Good maltiness though. I told my old lady that this geek was a bit like me, smooth and moreish. She read the label and said ’more like soft and fruity’. Ripper.

3.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Cask at the Birmingham beer festival 2012. Dark brown clear pour with a broken white frothy head. Very malty aroma with hints of fruit. Big rich but smooth malty flavour with some sour liqourice on the palate. A very different ale that deserves a top rating.

With 2 ratings, 1 more than anyone else, I am officially the Beer Geek Ratebeer resident expert. Porter? I didn’t know that when I had it. Expert lol. Dark, thinning head, bit thin.

Clear amber pour with very little head (cask with no handpump)
Nice enough porter. Would like to try it with some carbonation.
