3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: JUN 1, 2013 Not at all sweet to my tastes. Wonderful hit of coffee and chocolate on the nose; very pronouced and clean. Palate shows some sweet hints of the same flavours but also quite a roasted and astringent character that really dries the palate out. Finishes with an exoctic spice / aniseed / licorice note. Pretty good stuff.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
A Mes rate. Bottle at home with Mario & Sim.
Opaque dark brown, almost black with a thin and very shortlived beige head. Inky coffee malt aroma with a fair dollop of chocolate. Fairly basic burnt malt flavour. Hints of coffee and leather and a slight bitter chocolate note. Too burnt and basic to be honest. Surprisingly lactic too. Basic bitter finish with a touch of plastic. I’ve had MUCH better from Beer Here.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
0.5 L bottle from Barley Wine, København. Creamy egg-shell colored head. Near-black body, no clarity. Soft, yet a succulent aroma of coffe and chocolate. Taste is rich malty with a fine sweetness and rounded coffee-ish bitterness. Also some roast, and a gentle hop bitter note. Well-bodied. Smooth, thick and silky in the mouth. Smooth, coffee finish. Very well balanced, very easy to drink.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
It’s black with a light-brown, creamy head and the aroma has notes of roasted malt, coffee and licorice. The flavour has a light to moderate sweetness with the same nice notes. I cannot find the lactose. The balance and harmony is nice – really nice!

Draught at KØ10. Weak sweet aroma. Black colour, very small head. The flavour has a mild chocolate note. I cannot taste much hop, but there seems to be a slightly burn anyway.
