COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Bottle at Cardinal, Stavanger. Pours black with a huge creamy tanned head.Aroma of roasted malts, hoppy with notes of grapefruit and pine. Taste is weak sugary dark malts, roasted, caramel and even some liquorice. Smooth and soft mouthfeel. Dry hoppy end, medium bitterness, quite good beer this one.

500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger, ABV is 4.7%. Very dark brown colour, big beige head. Nice aroma of fruity and grape-like Nelson Sauvin hops, some roasty notes too, hints of dark chocolate. Refreshing flavour, mostly due to the hops, but there are also distinct and dry roasty notes, hints of ashes in the finish. A decent enough beer, but I am still not convinced that the recently invented combination of fruity hops and dark roasty beer is the best idea ever.

0.5L bottle. Dark reddish brown and translucent, with a lacing near-white head. Soft, light chocolatey and toasted malt aroma, together with a significant tropical fruity and catty Nelson Sauvin hop aroma. Medium sweet, softly roasted and chocoltey malt flavor. Notes af licorice. Nice topical fruity and citrussy hop flavor. Distinct hop bitterness all the way. Well-bodied. Soft on the palate. Fruity bittering hops linger in the finish. Good stuff.

(Bottle, 0.5 l, at Pikkulintu) The beer poured dark brown and almost clear. Its head was quite large and shaded with brown. Aroma had mildly malts and quite a lot of black currant leaves. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours had malts, hops, mildly liquorice, pine, tangerine and bitterness. Aftertaste was bitter. Impressive that such a tasty beer can be brewed so that the ABV is only 4.7 %.

UPDATED: JUL 25, 2011 500 ml bottle. Amber body with a big, creamy beige head. Very nice aroma of grapefruit and other citric fruits, pine and caramel. Flavor is pleasant, light roasted malt, caramel, lots of citric fruit and well-balanced bitterness. Feels quite light and refreshing, still distinct in flavors, relatively complex, smooth and balanced. Really nice considering such low alcohol, could easily be a favorite session beer. Great stuff!
