Editor’s note: previously brewed at Nøgne Ø, Norway.

Very, nearly black color. Tall, lasting dark tan head. Scents of Herbal and citric hops, dark malts, citrus, juniper, molasses, tobacco all waft about. Quite intriguing, but not quite totally inviting. Creamy feel. Licorice start in the flavors set me back a bit (me being a known licorice disliker in my brews). But I escape with minimal damage. Starfruit, and some charred pineapple flavors work in. Seem a bit too charred for my tastes. Not an abundance of flavors for me. The charred licorice and some herbal hops are not enough to sway me.

"expecting a black ipa, got a stout-type brew, though not quite a stout either. poured black with a thick head. the hoppiness was not evident at all, but we got over it by the end as the chocolate, rye, and other weird unique notes were enjoyed. not very hoppy though."

One of the best BIPAs I’ve ever drunk. Cola-like color, nice head, pleasant aroma of pine, citrus and coffee, chocolate. Nice taste full of black malts and hops. One disadvantage is alcohol, which is highly noticable.

Bottle. Awesome aroma. Hops, herbs, roasty malts, dark chocolate. Black color with ruby reflexes. Big lasted head. Little warming in throat. Beer is smooth, very hoppy and roasty in taste, good bitterness. Very good beer, worth the money

Dark black colour with some ruby/brown reflex. Big brown head and very nice lacing. Intensive aroma of citrus (grapefruit), pine, coffee and roasted malts. Nose is dominated by hoppiness. Taste is more balanced, maltiness is more sensible (lots of chocolate, coffee), some hoppy notes (grapefruit, pine needle). On background I felt some woody smokiness. Medium to full body. Medium carbonation. Rich, well done black IPA.
