Dark color, almost black with mahogany shades; medium sized creamy beige head. Nice aroma of roasted malts and bread. Full bodied; moderate roasted malt flavor, dark chocolate, light residual sweetness, some bread; correct bitterness. Very well balanced. Nice.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draught @ Hilpeä Hauki. Aroma has cocoa, licorice, some coffee and dark chocolate. Also hints of soy sauce. Flavour has salty licorice, herbal tones, semi-dark chocolate and hints of coffee. Finishes with mellow grapefruit and gooseberry bush tones. Nothing surprising, a solid IS. A bit too salty for me.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Aroma: 6/10. Not bad, a nice bready, nutty aroma off the glass. A little more pungent hopping like a lager in the nose, but not repellant. Smells a little more hopped than most porters.
Appearance: 4/5. Pours a dark caramel brown with a light-tan head, medium-thin, with nice lacing.
Taste: 7/10. Nice balance here between the malts and the hops, with a nice toasty-sourness to the malt, and a medium caramel-cocoa-roasted finish. Some points off for the afterbite of the hops, it finishes with a bit of unpleasant bitterness. But. While actively drinking, this beer really displays an excellent harmony of the sweet-sour-bitter-savory blends going on.
Palate: 4/5. Nice body, with a creamy head that likes to linger on the tongue past the swallow. Very astringent, but mostly in a good way; I’d have difficulty sessioning this though, it’s a little tongue-stripping after a while. That hoppy finish hanging out under the sides of the tongue is rather unfortunate though.
Overall: 15/20. Probably won’t buy it again, but I’m glad it’s out there. With some tweaking of the recipe to keep that harmony but reduce that finishing bitterness, this could be a proud crown jewel from Beer Here! breweries.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap @ Fermentoren. Looks like a porter with a deep deep dark brown, near blackish body under a dark brown chocolate ice cream looking lacing as-hell-head. The nose has lots of mocha and dark Belgian chocolate. Almost like konfekt chocolate, the darkest kind with traces of vanilla, wood and mint. Turns out the mint comes from my girlfriend that’s sitting next to me and have been snusing all night. This can help make sense of the fact that I have gotten aromas of mint in every other beer I’ve had tonight, including Aercht Shenkerla Klausen. Anyhow, we have moved the girl to a isolated place so the mint should hopefully fade soon. Other than mint, this smells lovely. It feels thick and light oily in the mouth and it has a average carbonation level. Like the taste also. Even if it has a little bit of green banana dryness on the tongue, the chocolate dominates. Gunpowder with cocoa powder and wet rocks and some strong roastiness in the finish. Lingering as heck, and it’s leaving the mouth quite dry in the finish. All the way in the end I get a warming prickling chili sensation on the tip of the tongue. A truly interesting and explain-the-situation beer. 09.01.2014
