Dark brown body with a small, frothy, light-brown head that soon reduces to a thin film with a few islands of big bubbles. Fair lacing. The aroma is quite strong and is a lovely mix of malty and hoppy notes. It’s very sweet with dried fruits, a hint of slightly overripe fresh fruits, lightly roasted notes and some faint chocolate. The taste is moderate sweet and the finish has a heavy and sharp bitterness that just keeps on increasing in the long-lasting aftertaste. The roasted notes are quite evident, also dark dried fruits, some alcohol and very bitter resinous notes. Medium body, oily texture and very soft carbonation. A tasty and nice beer, but a bit too rough. I should add that my tongue was burnt by a bit too hot beef teriyaki a couple of hours before I had this beer, so probably a Coors light would have felt a bit rough too.
[50 cl bottle, enjoyed month before BB date, from Vinmonopolet Vika, Oslo]

Aromat: powalające nuty karmelu, toffi, kukułek, szlachetnego alkoholu, rodzynek, suszonych owoców, orzechów, do tego żywiczność chmieli i lekkie nuty owoców. Bomba wygląd: brown ale pełną gębą Smak: mocarna rodzynkowa baza, mieszająca się z akcentami toffi, karmelu i kukułek, goryczka wysoka, idealnie kontrująca słodycz. Alkohol wyczuwalny tylko jako delikatne grzanie przełyku. Świetne !

Draught at Søernes Ølbar Copenhagen, 16.1.15. Hazy dark red with white film. Hoppy, sweet fruity aroma with some date honey. Sweet, a little honey, a little bun and raisins in the mouth. Syrupy texture, full body, mild carbonation, sweet and fruity finish.

Aroma is caramel, honey, light funk, an earthiness, clove and lemon grass. Taste is sweet malts with a nice deepness. A well balanced hoppiness with an earthiness, and citrus body that finishes smoothly. Appearance is a foggy amber that has a medium lacy pearl head that retains well.

Dark brown color. Very malt focused with lots of crystal malt and the body is a bit astringent with not enough hop character. Not bad, but wouldn’t go back to it.

Bottle. Pours dark copper with a big, medium-bobbled head. Aroma of mal, caramel and hops in background - quite pleasant. Beer is full bodied, in taste mainly sweet malt notes with a bitter finish. Alcohol very well hidden - only little warming sensation in the finish. Very good strong ale.

Bottle from City Beer. Pours dark brown with a two-finger beige head and a toffee aroma. There is a sweet caramel maltand burnt sugar flavor that leaves a bitter finish on the palate. Interesting and tasty.
