Dark brown body with a small, frothy, light-brown head that soon reduces to a thin film with a few islands of big bubbles. Fair lacing. The aroma is quite strong and is a lovely mix of malty and hoppy notes. It’s very sweet with dried fruits, a hint of slightly overripe fresh fruits, lightly roasted notes and some faint chocolate. The taste is moderate sweet and the finish has a heavy and sharp bitterness that just keeps on increasing in the long-lasting aftertaste. The roasted notes are quite evident, also dark dried fruits, some alcohol and very bitter resinous notes. Medium body, oily texture and very soft carbonation. A tasty and nice beer, but a bit too rough. I should add that my tongue was burnt by a bit too hot beef teriyaki a couple of hours before I had this beer, so probably a Coors light would have felt a bit rough too.
[50 cl bottle, enjoyed month before BB date, from Vinmonopolet Vika, Oslo]

Bottle to glass. Pours a murky deep amber ruddy brown color with a frothy light brown head. Aroma is mostly caramel malts, molasses, bourbony, boozy. Flavor is caramel malts and booze. Not much hop profile found anywhere in the beer, but it may not be the freshest. Medium in body with a lingering sweet boozy character. Solid strong ale.

From bottle to tulip. Massive grain, moderate wet grass and alcohol. Slight floral. Very hazy copper with off white head that leaves a ring and slight lacing. Old fruit and caramel. Moderate low bitterness with an astringent finish.

Bottle from Corti Bros. Pours very hazy dark amber with a creamy beige/tan head. Lots of hop and some fairly roasty malt for aroma. Hop is sort of earthy. Med body. Flavor is earthy with roasty malt. Medium dark fruits. Seems to be a lot of hop, but it’s not extremely bitter - there is a mild hop burn. Unless that’s heat. In the mouth, but not the gullet, so hop. With time the aroma seems to become a bit oxidized. But the earthy flavor hides any oxidation for me.

A real dark hazelnut brown pour with a head that never ever goes away, this is surely a brew to be taken seriously. That oh so staggering odor of Chinook hops hits you right away. The balance is the winner here, and even though this is one hoppy motherfucker, the sweet blackened malts makes it more than drinkable at any given time of day. You won’t even notice the strength of this brew.. Not in the taste anyway. Sure if you down three of these in a row you are bound to get knocked off your feet. Almost what I would call perfection in this genre of beer. Very, very good job ’Beer Here’

Risk för glädje rate:ing, första ölen på en månad. Men ack så bra. Söt humle fyller näsborrarna. Smaken är kraftig och besk. Dock väldigt fin balans och ej spretig. Bra fyllighet i kroppen. Lätt kolsyrad till perfektion.

Cloudy red brown pour, big hop aroma, lots of malty sweetness, caramel, brown sugar, smells a lot like double bastard. Taste - raisins, brown sugar, big and hoppy with a smooth semi bitter finish. Nice stuff, but not quite as good as the aroma had me thinking it was going to be.

Pours a pretty cloudy muddy brownish copper with an average off white head and a bit of little lace. Aroma is sweet candy like, grapefruit, tropical fruits and earthy. Flavour is sweet citrus, grapefruit, residual sugar, medium-high bitterness, other fruity esters, earthy, a decent malty backbone and faint alcohol.

About to watch the penguins decapitate the oilers. Murky drk blood orange look with a thick ass tan head and 100% glued on lacing. Quick nose - neck is in bad shape so this is pretty much chug time. Peach candy, thick caramel, grapefruit, lemon and earth - nice! I really love this tasty brew as it’s brutally bitter right from the first sip. This is a rich beer once it warms and you get past the hop assault. Pine, unsweetened grapefruit, light spicy pepper (not really pepper), peach, solid caramel, hella bitter. Love beer like this. Sweet finish with nasty bitter mouth. The edmonton AHL/NHL team is doing what it does..... Bottom 1/3 of the bottle is amazing - balanced while being everywhere at the same time. All the flavour qualities have been amplified. This is cray cray, bitches. Earthy, light boose, thicker than ever, bigger fruit, just spectacular. Intense experience. Succulent. Planning on buying a shitload to see if my interest holds up.

Pours reddish brown, frothy head. Aroma of caramel, malt, sugars, sick, citrus peel. Taste is a bit weird, it’s a mix of a sweet dark Belgian beer and a IPA that isn’t super hoppy. I didn’t really like it, too sweet, too odd, to mixed, too meh. I drank it........

Bottle - Leafy hops with a nice caramel malt backbone. Cloudy copper with a huge beige head. I get a bit of resin and cardboard, which for such a high ABV beer is a bit odd. I would think it stands up better to a little age if it is not fresh. Bitterness is up front with the malty sweetness following. Pretty disjointed, much better beers in this space.
