4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
500ml bottle from Bierkompass, shared
BBE 08.02.2013 - Pours dark reddish brown with a medium foamy head. Aroma has notes of chocolate, coffee and citrus from citra hops. Taste is very chocolatey with notes of coffee and nice citrusy fruitness from citra hops. Bitter, long lasting caramely finish. Nice surprise, didn’t expect this one to taste this good.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle 50 cl, Skjold Burne, Århus. Pours deep ruby mahogany with a huge creamy tanned head leaving lots of lace. Aroma is slightly roasted, caramel, citric, cat bin, coffee and fruity. Flavor is much like the aroma, nicely acidy and with an excellent bitterness. Finishes fruity and very malty, some chocolate and longlived bitter aftertaste. Well balance I think, damn good to drink.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a clear and brown beer with a beige head. The aroma is malt, caramel and hops with flowers and citrus. The flavor follows the nose. The palate is bitterness. Overall a really good beer with a good balance.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle at my East Croydon tasting, thanks to Leighton. It pours (surprisingly to me) darkest brown/near black with ruby highlights, with a thin foamy beige head and moderate carbonation. The nose is caramel, resin, cat piss, wood, citrus and light spice. The taste is lemon, lime, orange pith, caramel, liquorice, treacle, burnt sugar, roasted malt, grass and wood, with a long bitter finish. Tastes more like a black IPA than a brown ale, but a tasty brew nonetheless.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle at the East Croydon Beer Tasting. Pours dark brown with a huge, beige head. Lots of citrus and pine on the nose, subtle coffee roast. Delicious flavor, sweet and roasty malts, some light espresso, resinous and grapefruity bitterness. Medium in body with average carbonation. Pretty bitter on the finish, blend of dry roast and scorched earth, some pine and fresh grass, mild mocha. Great beer.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle, KØ11. Mild citric aroma. Clear very dark brown colour. Very small head. The flavour is nicely hoppy, has some grassy notes. Like a DIPA, but probably with less alcohol.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. It’s a clear-looking copper to brown beer with a dense, beige head. Pine-cones, citrus peel, roasted malts and caramel on the nose. Roasted malts, pine cones and some caramel in the flavor, bitter and roasted towards the finish. Full body. Certainly with some similarities with a black IPA, but not exactly there. A nice beer it is anyway. Rating: 7-4-7-4-15-3.7. 110300
Bottle. A quite clear, brown body is topped by a dense, off-white to beige head. The aroma is citrusy and piney, with roasted malts and caramel in the back. It’s quite bitter in the mouth, full-bodied, and with citrusy, piney hops on a bed of roasted malts and caramel. Lasting bitter finish. A nice and tasteful beer. 110330

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle 50 cl tasted @ Karhisma Birroteca (Piedimonte Matese, Caserta - Italy). Pours brown with amber, ruby, rusty and red texture. Not so big beige foam, but creamy and long-lasting; even if you sip, it remains and pervade your lips. Nice structured aroma of vanilla, coffee grounds, hay, a little bit of spices, hops; its wholeness gives sense of balance. Creamy body, light to medium, low carbonated but fizzy; like a Lindt chocolate tablet with orange added, but bitter and salty as well. Caramel and coffee again, leads to an intense floral, citric, grassy and bitter finish of hops. After two or three seconds it turns to something REALLY astringent, harsh and quite spicy or peppery that lasts long, long and *long* at palate as a squeeze of grapefruit juice. This is a very good brown ale, it has the smoothness and simplicity of a classic one despite the intensity of an imperial one. I like it, compliments to Skovdal Andersen.

Bottle. Fine nut-caramel- citrus aroma. Brown hazy. Low carbonation small head with medium body. Sweet grapefruit flavours. Faint bitter finish. A
well balance brown ale. Prefer more carbonation and less sweetness.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
50 cl bottle, BBE 08.02.13
An aroma that can be observed from a distance of one meter from the pour. Sweet and exotic fruits, very pleasant. Also some nuts typical to brown ale. Taste has some dark nuts and overaged, exotic fruits. Quite ok brown ale, but I don’t think that citra fits so well with this kind of brew. The hops became even more annoying towards the end of the glass. But a nice label anyway.
