COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A decadent stout, inspired by the special British ales exported to the Russian Court, during the 18th century. It is black and viscous like crude oil from the oil fields in the Caspian Sea. The flavor is dominated by dark notes of burnt sugar, spicy hops and smokiness from peaked malt. Unpasteurized * Unfiltered * Bottle-conditioned.
Ingredients: water, barley malt, sugar, hops, yeast.

Aroma: 8/10. Malts and yeast with a nice caramel undertone, and a fair bit of hop to the nose. Appareance: 4/5. Pours a cola brown-black with a thick, very lively, and very lingering creamy tan head. Taste: 8/10. Initial intense sourness with a rounded caramel and malt flavor, with a mild coffee finish, gentle notes of chocolate. Palate: 4/5. Shockingly lively and well-carbonated for an imperial stout, with a strong astringency and acidity, and a fair bit of hoppy bitterness to the finish. Overall: 17/20. This is a different take on a russian imperial stout; intensely carbonated and sour, it attacks the mouth with a powerful entry, but then fades to a pleasant, gentle black coffee finish. Not my favorite russian imperial, but I’d buy it again without hesitation if I saw it on the shelf.

Black, no head. Licorice aroma. Flavour has more licorice, and nicely balanced bitterness. Thick mouthfeel, potent.

UPDATED: JUN 7, 2014 Bottle, 10%. Fat vanilla aroma, turning quite heavily smokey. Black colour. Good stable creamy brown colour. The flavour is very sweet and very roasted. Has a good smokey note and a sweet hoppiness giving a syrupy, jammy flavour. Rather bittersweet and good. Very late raw liquorice aftertaste.

Bottle. Pours cloudy very dark brown with stable creamy beige head. Clear aroma of malt, fruit, caramel and coffee. Sweet flavour of caramel malt and fruit, with notes of roast, coffee and alcohol. Liquorice in the roasty aftertaste. Warming alcohol presence. Good.

500mL bottle, pours black with a medium tan head. Aroma reveals heavy notes of roasted malt, peat and burnt candied sugar. Flavour is very similar, bringing out a very nice cohesive mix of peat, roasted malt, burnt caramelized sugar and dry cocoa. The peat is not too overbearing at all, showing just a subtle smoky quality. Full-bodied and warming. Excellent impie stout.

500ml bottle pours black in color with a 2 finger tan head that retains well and leaves some really nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is dark fruits, chocolate and dark roasted grains and a hint of smoke. Taste is a big roasted grain and spicy hop bitterness balanced nicely with a chocolate malty and dark fruit sweetness finishing with a pleasant smokiness. Medium to heavy body with moderate carbonation. A very nice sipping stout, very bold and full flavored. Highly recommended.

Black pour with a 2 finger, creamy tan head that has great retention and leaves nice lacing. Aroma is banana oil and high alcohol right away, then nice peat smoke, roast, char, dark chocolate and oily grain. Flavor is rich roast, burnt sugar, brown sugar, just enough peat smoke, bittersweet chocolate, earthy hops, leather, dark fruit and a sort of salted chocolate caramel meets smoky scotch taste to the finish. Medium to heavy body creamy, oily feel, light, soft, blanketing carbonation and more dry, but still pretty creamy finish. Really, really good stuff.
