A decadent stout, inspired by the special British ales exported to the Russian Court, during the 18th century. It is black and viscous like crude oil from the oil fields in the Caspian Sea. The flavor is dominated by dark notes of burnt sugar, spicy hops and smokiness from peaked malt. Unpasteurized * Unfiltered * Bottle-conditioned.
Ingredients: water, barley malt, sugar, hops, yeast.

50 cl bottle from Vinmonopolet CC Vest. Pours black with a medium brown head. Aroma of burned sugar and some smoked notes. Oily texture, medium bitterness, a bit salty. Alcohol notes as well. Good one but not at the top.

Black pour with a 2 finger, creamy tan head that has great retention and leaves nice lacing. Aroma is banana oil and high alcohol right away, then nice peat smoke, roast, char, dark chocolate and oily grain. Flavor is rich roast, burnt sugar, brown sugar, just enough peat smoke, bittersweet chocolate, earthy hops, leather, dark fruit and a sort of salted chocolate caramel meets smoky scotch taste to the finish. Medium to heavy body creamy, oily feel, light, soft, blanketing carbonation and more dry, but still pretty creamy finish. Really, really good stuff.

Opaque black color, small off-white head. Licorice, sweetness, toasted black malts. Full-bodied. Sweetish licorice, alcohol, lingering bitterness. Sweet but still quite drinkable.

Tap at Brasserie V. Excessive head. Roasty mint edged chocolate aroma. Opaque black with an offensively big, steady beige head. Sticky and sweet, with a a smoky edge. A let down for a Danish beer, a little warm and brutal. Oily cocoa chocolate. Brown sugar Imperial Stout. OK, but lacking World Class depth and mouthfeel. Oily, dry, boozy.

Skinnyviking (6383) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - NOV 11, 2013
Bottle. Medium high creamy and thick looking light brown head. Pitch black body. Sugary roasted malt coffee aroma. Flavour though is dominated by coffee and choccolate, relatively sweet roasted malt and light notes of smoke. Suitable amount of hops bitterness. Very well balanced and disguising the high alcohol contents in a superb way. Low carbonation. Long sweet coffee choccolate finish.

Bottle: Thanks Palme: Served in a Chouffe glass: Brown pour. Black beer in my glass with a medium to bigger sized beige brown foamy head on top. Aromas of liquorice, malt roast, liquorice wood, tar, some smoked malts, some coffee, some molasses and the lightest hints of some red fruit. Flavours are a clean mix of roasted malts, caramel, liquorice wood, some brown sugars, some coffee, bitter, wood roast, some bitter cacoa/chocolate/liquid liquorice tones, some espresso beans with milk, light sticky and some smooth spiced tones. Aftertaste is a mix of roasted malts, coffee, liquorice, bitters and some sticky sugary notes (while not sweet). Low carbo, creamy oily close to silky mouthfeel, full bodied and an oily texture. Balanced, bit sticky but not sweet, good dark tones, nice bitterness. Great beer!
