COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

English: In the Trappist monasteries an extra strong and good ale was brewed during the lent to keep the hunger at bar. The sweet drops on an empty stomach, combined with the much idle time occasionally led to less steadfast members of the order giving in to more earthly excesses. They went under the name "Malus Pater" - the bad father. With this ale inspired by the trappists you can now even do the same. And remember: God sees everything, but he doesn’t tell!

Pours a semi transparent brown with a small beige ring of head. Aroma is dark sugars/syrups, dark dried fruits, light chocolate notes, pepper mixed with mint(best way I can describe this one), and caramel. Flavour is dark dried fruits, dark sugars, some roasty qualities, some light spicy Belgian yeast phenols, moderately sweet, a mild bitterness mixed with faint alcohol(blended in there quite well) and faint chocolate.

Pours a clear dark amber with a small tan head. Aroma of caramel, brown sugar, dark dried fruits, alcohol and toast. Taste is caramel, plums, raisins, dates, brown sugar and a nice alcohol warming on the finish. High carbonation on the mouth... Complex, rich, smooth and easy to drink.

Süßer schwerer Malzantrunk. Geringer Alkohol, dunkel bananige Noten. Intensiv malzig, zum Ende abnehmend und dadurch runder, weiterhin fruchtig. Gelungenes, zum Ende etwas zu alkoholisches Bier. 11/11/12/9/13/11

Bottle from Denmark, pours a deep, nearly flat brown with light sour plum notes plus pear drops and toffee on the nose. Palate has a slight tartness, plus treacle, forest berries, a dry bitterness, a touch of earthy wood, and a little spice and coffee. The mouthfeel is interestingly syrupy-sweet yet dry-bitter. Really doesn’t drink its strength, until you start to notice the warmth spreading to your head!

ALLOVATE (2475) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - JAN 25, 2014
Muddy, murky brown. Headless, oily legs. Heavy set savoury fruit nose. Yeasty, bready, burnt toast and vinous, thick, liqueurish stone fruit with just a hint of spice. Soapy, light body. Remarkably light. Sticky, bitter/sweet raisin and sultana finish. Pleasant but bland.

Decent flavour, zero hints of the 10%. Mild peppermint candy nose, roasted malts on the sweet side nose, raisins nose, blueberries nose, plum nose, dark caramel nose has taken over the previously claimed roasted malt nose, nose, fresh nose, good nose. Digging this taste - smooth taste and slightly oily taste, sweet dark caramel taste, brown sugar taste, plum taste and date taste, bitter harshness taste after I dumped in the sludge taste, taste, sort of chocolate taste or whatever taste that taste is that I am tasting taste. Radical, dude. Fucking iPhone keeps spell checking ’taste’ as ’Tate’ and every time it reminds me of former American coffee heiress Sharon Tate. Insert whatever here.

Bottle - Dark sugars and dark fruit. Dark brown, almost opaque with no head. Dark fruits and some slight bitterness. A bit medicinal and boozey but still pretty decent.

Rating #2300. 500ml brown bottle. Deep brown, rapidly receding tan head. Nose has fruit notes of raisin, cherry also some caramel, cola and chocolate malt. Taste has dark fruit and dark chocolate. Some roast/dark malt and hop bitterness at the end. Light hops in the aftertaste, bit of smooth alcohol and dark fruits. Big body. A well put together quad that drinks easily for it’s strength.

reebtogi (4388) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - NOV 21, 2013
500ml bottle pours an amber brown color with a generous light beige head that leaves some spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma is dark pitted fruits with some candied sugar and hints of yeast and chocolate. Taste is a fruit and chocolate malt sweetness with a herbal hop bitterness and a dry finish. Definite presence of alcohol. Medium bodied with decent carbonation. Tasty but not overly complex for a quad. Good enough to sample.
