COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

English: In the Trappist monasteries an extra strong and good ale was brewed during the lent to keep the hunger at bar. The sweet drops on an empty stomach, combined with the much idle time occasionally led to less steadfast members of the order giving in to more earthly excesses. They went under the name "Malus Pater" - the bad father. With this ale inspired by the trappists you can now even do the same. And remember: God sees everything, but he doesn’t tell!

Bottle from Mane Liquor. Pours a gluggy black with a small tan head. Loads of chocolate and belgian yeast on the nose. Heaps of chocolate cocoa and fudge like characteristics in this one. Has a very liquorice like finish. Good beer

Habanero (2543) - Tranbjerg, DENMARK - APR 29, 2011
Bottled. Pours deep brownand nearly black with a red glow and a medium sized, creamy, beige head. Fair lacings. Nose of dark dried fruits, brown sugar and yeasty notes. Flavour of dark dried fruits, brown sugar and licorice notes. Averge carbonation. Full bodied. Creamy texture. Ends up more dry with an alcohol touch too. Great and very simular to a real Belgian quadrupel.

Tap, Plan B Aug’ 10. Deep, rich brown with a thin light tan head. Lacto-sweetness and dark fruits in the aroma, and taste very much follows suit. Bit sweet, but a sour quality as well. Little musty and some prunes. Medium body with soft carbonation. Not bad.

Davros (1893) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - APR 7, 2011
Pours dark brown with a small head. Nose shows caramelised banana, chocolate, soft alcohol, rose-like perfume and raisins. Pretty full on. Lots of alcohol shows upon tasting, along with heads of sweet brown sugar and golden syrup. Long lasting finish with plenty of candi sugar. Not amazingly complex for the style. Moderately low carbonation could be higher.

from erzbierschof.ch - pours a hazy dark brown beer with a persistent dark beige foam left; a robust aroma of biscuit, prunes and apples; moderate carbonation and a strong malt body, very sweet, no bitterness and a long aftertaste of dark fruits and toasted malts with pretty lot of residual sugars

Bottle... Cloudy brown ale with a small, frothy, beige head. Good retention. The phenolic aroma presents vinous notes and dark fruits. Also, herbal and rooty components abound. Full-bodied with a silky mouthfeel and medium carbonation. The flavor is sweet and tangy; vinous and herbal. Lengthy brown sugar and cocoa finish. Kudos to Plovmand for providing the bottle!
