3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Stew41 (1572) - Woodend, AUSTRALIA - APR 28, 2012
Good solid old skool interpretation. Spice and stinky soy / vegemite drive the flavours. There’s a little milk chocolate and minerals to finish. Hides the 10% abv very well and this is quite quaffable for a quad.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Marko (3612) - Split, CROATIA - SEP 18, 2010
Draught at Lord Nelson, courtesy of and shared with Papsoe (thanks!), Blackish colour, tanish head... the light here really isn’t brilliant for rating appearance. Sweet malty fruity nose, figs, sticky but in a good way, some grain, maybe weak honey. Nice balanced sweet malty taste, rosehip jam notes, the alcohol isn’t there much in the taste but this is certainly warming. Not the type of beer I’d immediately call my favorite, but it really is a sublime thing that grows on you.

Bottled@Beer Hunters, Pori. Quite much black colour, small beigeish brown head. Aroma is toffee, raisins, liquorice, some ashes, alcohol and quite strong stuff. Flavour is toffee, sweet malts, some roasted and toasted notes mild grass, some caramel and nice. Pleasant, even though will probably win on aging it a bit.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Maria (9562) - Thisted, DENMARK - SEP 14, 2010
It’s black with a light red hue and a huge, creamy head. The aroma has notes of dark fruit, hops, yeast, preserved fruits and caramel. The flavour is sweet and vinous with notes of dark fruits, prunes, raisin, plum, caramel and the finish is slightly dry. It’s a nice and complex beer.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Defreni (2045) - Husum, DENMARK - JUL 30, 2010
Fad: Brun uklar øl med et tæt skumhoved. Duft af tørrede frugt og blomster fra duft. Mundfylden er udmærket med let karbonation. Lidt ung i sit udtryk, men meget drikbar. Alkoholen er fuldstændig skjult, gæren er ikke så dominerende. Fin øl men mangler en lille smule for at være helt oppe at ringe.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Davros (1477) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - APR 7, 2011
Pours dark brown with a small head.
Nose shows caramelised banana, chocolate, soft alcohol, rose-like perfume and raisins. Pretty full on.
Lots of alcohol shows upon tasting, along with heads of sweet brown sugar and golden syrup. Long lasting finish with plenty of candi sugar. Not amazingly complex for the style.
Moderately low carbonation could be higher.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 phredrik (986) - Copenhagen (formerly Aalborg), DENMARK - JAN 28, 2011
Aroma has lots of sweetness. Candied berries, dried fruits, caramel, belgian yeasts, hints of cinnamon, and fresh bakes cake. Taste is not as sweet as the aroma, it also has some darker malts with dried fruits more evident. Dark sugars and caramel. Very heavy and the alcohol is also notable.
