Smooth and mellow with a light smokey finish on each sip. Really enjoyed kicking back the end of the day raining outside and sipping on this porter.

Bottle at ChrisO’s Pre-GBBF Shindig 2011. Pours a slightly cloudy brown with an off-white head. Big roast and smoke aroma, some peat. Great flavor, smokey with hints of bacon and brown sugar. Big roastiness. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet finish, plenty of lingering smoke. Excellent.

Ha un bel naso e una certa complessità gustativa, ma mi risulta inndigesta a lungo andare.

Bottle @ Søgaards Bryghus. Dark brown, almost black body with a nice, creamy beige head. Delicate smoke aroma with roasted malt. Flavor of dark chocolate, roasted malt, caramel and hint of smoked sausages. Quite strong smoke flavor, still smooth and balanced, relatively sweet but in balance with the bitterness. Fine body and long smoked finish. A really nice smoked porter.

from erzbierschof.ch - clear dark ruby-brown beer with a little beige foam left; correct lacework; roasted coffeish aroma with well-integrated notes of smoke and bacon; a decent carbonation and malt backbone; slightly dry and moderately bitter; long aftertaste of ashes and bacon
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Maria (9628) - Thisted, DENMARK - APR 19, 2011
It’s black with a red hue and a creamy, lasting head. The aroma has notes of camp-fire, smoked bacon and other meat, roasted malt and licorice. The mouth-feel is fat. The flavour is moderately sweet with notes of camp-fire with beech-wood, smoking meat, smoked meat, licorice, coffee, and in the long and slightly dry finish I find notes of coffee in the end – it’s a lovely beer!

A Mes rate. At Chris O’s pre GBBF. Almost black with a thin beige head. Lots of chocolate malt in the nose with a lick of smoke. Excellent black smoky stuff all round in the mouth. The lick of bonfire at the edges in the finish is really excellent.

Dar brown with a creamy light brown head. Fat charcoal and rye aroma with a good amount of chocolate, molasses and roasted malt. Medium roasted bitterness, sweet honney fruity notes with dark chocolate and a dry ashy finish with some hoppy notes of fresh leaves.

Medium bodied. Medium carbonation. Dry finish with more smoked malts. Good. (And happy birthday, Christian.)
