3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
A black beer with a creamy, medium, and brown head. The aroma is powerful, strongly roasted, salt liquirice, and coffee. Also milder nuancees as dark chocolate, sweet syrup, and fresh marzipan. Taste has black coffee, chocolate, richness of malts. Dry roastiness and some hops in the end. Almost full bodied, smooth enough. Succesfully, powerful, and complex Porter.

Bottle thanks to Colin. It pours near black with a small tan head. The nose is salted caramel, roasted malt, wood, earthy, toast, umami, cola and treacle. The taste is bitter, roasted, salted liquorice, cola, toasty, earthy, caramel and booze with a dry, bitter finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Solid Baltic porter.

Bottle shared pre Zwanze 2014 - thanks to Colin. Pours brown with a big, frothy beige head. Lots of toasted cereal on the nose, some milk chocolate. Medium sweet flavor with charred toast, more burnt cereal, burnt meat, ash, baking cocoa, dried dark fruits. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Finishes with dark, burnt sugars, more burnt toast and cereal, milk chocolate, general roast, some dried and ripe fruits. Nice.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle and served in BCS snifter: Not exactly sure what a Scandinavian-Styled Porter is supposed to be but this Baltic is surprisingly more bitter than expected (but is Not a Black IPA) with lot of liquorice and coffee along with some moderate earthy undertones. Porter-ish body and aggressive mouth feel that is ashy and a touch medicinal. Honestly this is a letdown for what I paid for it and my past experience with Beer Here brews. Needs more dark fruits OR just become a blackened IPA and amp up the tropical fruity hops for right now this does not know what it’s supposed to be.
