25cl draft sample @ BH, Tallinn.

Big swing top bottle from Beer House, bottled two days ago. Looks cloudy brown with a bright red shade. Lots of caramel malts in taste and probably a hint of smoke. Sweet palate with a little buttery feel to it. In conclusion it’s got something and worth to give it a try.

Tap. Pours dark brown with light beige head. The head stays. Aroma is sweet, malt, caramel, grains, slight fruitiness. Flavor is sweet and somewhat bitter, caramel, malt. Body is on the thin side. Overall: ok-ish.

On tap at Beer House, Tallinn. Dark, hazy brown with a modest head. Malty aroma with some fruity and mildly hoppy flavours. Sweet, malty and somewhat fruity with just hints of hops. Fairly tasty and quite sessionable.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Stas’s place. Thanks DSG. Pours brown to chocolate color with a small beige head, aroma of diacetyl, butter, plastic, chocolate and butterscotch, flavor of chocolate and dark bread with butterscotch, light bodied.

Black color. Aroma of caramel and malt, dry taste with light sweetness. Too sour for the style, and has some unpleasant notes.

Bottle sample at a tasting, thanks DSG. Hazy reddish-brown color. Aroma of toffee and cooked vegetables. Very sweet with caramel malty and toffee notes, diacetyl and other off-flavors. Not pleasant, something wrong with this beer.

Growler shared at a tasting at Stas’s place. Thanks mom for this bottle! Hazy brown with a big beige head. Aroma of butterscotch, caramel and dolce de leche,. Sweetish flavor with butterscotch, caramel and a drier finish with a faint bitter note. Creamy diacetyl mouthfeel.

Tap@brewpub. Schwarzbier, LOL. Brown mahogany, unfiltered. Weak roastedness, caramels on nose. Doughy house yeast. Soft, but bit astringent. Being by no means an expert on the style, but probably the weakest example of a schwarz I’ve seen. Brewed not to upset the lager drinkers too much. But even that said, probably the best of the bunch at this place. It must be that mystical coffee malt that does it.

Draught @ the brewpub
Aroma is sweet with butter and toffee. Also hints of berries and bready malt. Flavour has berries, malt, toffee, some caramel and hints of hay. Well, at least this differs a bit from their other brews.
