Draught@EBF2008. Pitch black colour, mediumsized brown head. Aroma is smoke, malts, tar, licorice and vanilla. Also some slight wooden notes as well as some dark dried fruits. Also a sting of alcohol as it warms up. Flavour is roasted malts, smoked wood, alcohol, vanilla and some slight fruityness too. All in a very nice balance. Got even better the more it warmed up. Probably my favourite beer of the festival, so I drank loads of it....

Draught, 9.0% at EBF08. Good sweet smoke flavour, distinct and clean smoke. Very good. My favourite of the EBF08.

EBF2008. It’s pitch black with a huge, creamy and nougat-colored head. The aroma is very clean smoke and tar and a very light sweetness. The flavour has just a little (perfect) sweetness and loads and loads of nice, clean smoke and tar, notes of roasted malt, a light roasted bitterness, fruit, wood and sauna. It’s incredibly nice and very well balanced – I love it!

On tap @ European Beerfistival. Pours black with a light brown head. Some bitterness, low sweetness and somewhat chocolaty. Mellow and very good aromas of smoke and leather. Nice and velvety mouthfeel. Well balanced. Awesome.

Draught at EBF. Black - brown head. High smokey aroma, burned, dryness, roasted, licorice, coffee, wood, fruity, tar, tarmac. - Light thin body. Lovely.

Draught at EBF and brewpub. Black w/ lasting mocha head. Nose is clear tar and smokiness with little coffee and ash coming through. Amazing syrupy, tarry liquorice drops (eli tervaleijona) in the flavor. Smoke, dark chocolate and good hops in the finish. Full bodied, smooth silky carbonation. Great job Mika, what a way to celebrate this year.

On tap at EBF 08. Black, smoke on the aroma. Cold choc. Dryish. Lovely roasted flavour. Very smoked aroma. good beer. Thanks to Duff to dragging me to this beer and then giving me the completely wrong name for it so it took me like 30 minutes to find the beer on the database.

Ausgewogen malzig-cremiger Antrunk, etwas scharf. Der Alkohol ist gut verborgen, die Aromen bleibend vorerst konstant. Das Malz legt im Verlauf deutlich zu und wird nicht nur intensiver sondern auch schokoladiger, besonders im Abganz ist es sehr kräftig aber auch erneut kurz scharf. Überaus tiefgründig malzig, eine im Mittelteil deutlich erkennbare Rauchnote verliert im Abgang an Bedeutung. Minimal bananig. 12/13/12/12//13

Dry, lots of smoke, dark chocolate and licorice through out the beer. Intense all the way. Alcohol well hidden. Much drier than usual for the style. Very enjoyable.
