Served way too cold. Jet black, tight beige head. Very burnt, very stout. Some espresso and liquorice details. Maybe a bit too stout, becoming a bit 1-dimensional. MrWalker (928), Stockholm, Sweden Apr 5, 2005 Keg @ Helsinki Beer Festival, Helsinki Finland Backlog 2 April, 2005 Slightly smoked aroma with a hint of overripe cucumber. Heavily burned taste from roasted barley. OTT. oh6gdx (5904), Vaasa, Finland Apr 4, 2005 Tapped. Black opaque with brown foamish head. Blueberries and malt in aroma. Berries and malt at first in the flavour, but later followed by a huge smokey effect. Smokey aftertaste with weak hints of licorace. sayravai (3048), Helsinki, Finland Nov 8, 2004 (Draught@Gallows Bird, Espoo) Very dark, almost black color with small and tight, cocoa-brown head. Mild, roasted-malty aroma with licorice and coffee hints. Very malty and burned flavor with lots of licorice and some coffee. Dryish, quite bitter finish. Medium to full-bodied, dry and bitter palate with low carbonation. Reminds me of Sinebrychoff Porter, but with added licorice flavor. A well-made imperial stout, although I would have liked a bit more sweetness and complexity (spoiled me!;). TBone (4976), Pori, Finland Apr 14, 2004 Updated: Apr 9, 2005Draught @Beer Hunter’s, Pori
Opaque black. Almost no head, just a bit tanned foam. Very light aroma: some sweetness and herbal aroma, maybe cassis? Starts watery, then some roasted flavor. After that strong licorice taste and some rubbery tones. Light to medium-bodied. Some bitterness and more licorice in aftertaste. (7/3/6/3/12 3.1)
Re-rated, draught
Lots of licorice and roast in the flavor and aroma. Only slightly rubbery, this is quite close to Koff Porter nowadays. (7/5/8/4/16 4.0)
