Mezcalmannen (395) - Oslo, NORWAY - JUL 27, 2012
1.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20
The colour of is this beer is a deep yellow, it resembles orange juice! As I first poured, a huge white head quickly formed. However it rapidly disappeared, making a loud soda-like hiss in doing so and leaving no trace of lacings whatsoever. As I made the last pour, amounts of fruit pulp poured out of the bottle. You can clearly make out the mango in the aroma, I also picked up strawberries. The only flavour present is a mildly sweet mango note, I couldn’t detect any bitterness or sourness. Despite the initial burst of bubbles, I thought the beer was too flat and lacks carbonation, it was also quite watery. The brewery should be applauded for trying to combine a wheat beer with a fruit with long traditions in Mexico, unfortunately, the result is far from recommendable. (Label on the bottle reads Cerveza Artesenal de Mango Alebrije, 5.5% ABV.)
