Bottle... Poured jet black with a thick white head. Quite hoppy, mixed some serious roast. Could almost pass for a Cascadian Dark Ale, but the roast really turned it around with coffee and dark sugar flavors. Quite hot, a little bit of a soapy character with grass and pine from the hops.

22 fl oz bottle. Pours dark brown with a small off-white to tan head. Aroma is fruity, citrusy and orange fruity. Sweet fruity, dark roasted malty and dark chocolate. Lingering bone dry and rather fruity into the far finish. More a black IPA than IS.

Bottled. Reddish brown coloured. Dense brown head. aroma of herbs, flowers, light pine, light roast. Flavour of alcohol, herbs, grass, roast, caramel, pine. Medium to full bodied. Dry grapy heavy bitterness in the end. Not much of a impy stout, but quite nice black ipa.

Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of scrizzz. Pours a hazy dark brown with a creamy and lacing beige head. Fresh hoppy aroma with some hard roast. Solid body, burned black malts, a little dusty and ashy with a distinct hop bite. Ends very bitter - from both malts and hops. Great - this is serious business! 221110

2010 version, bottle. Black pour, loose tan head with a light lacing left upon the glass. Very hoppy aroma on it: herbal, leafy, a little minty and spicy over a roasty backdrop. The flavor of this hits super hard: anise, coffee, chocolate roastiness on a rich, smooth body with a big hop payload. More minty, herbal, leafy notes that lead to a very bitter and lingering finish. Lots of intensity and complexity between the big malt and hop flavors. Definitely one of the more novel imperial stouts I’ve had.
