4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 Cybercat (2450) - Georgia, USA - JUL 9, 2011
Strong aroma has a firm overtone of sweet chocolate, like getting a good whiff of a Hershey bar, along with smoky, coffee and nutty hints. It pours a mouth-watering sable that is opaque save at the very edges and has a thick, fluffy, persistent light tan head that leaves some substantial lacing. Smoky flavor has tones of coffee, licorice, molasses and nuts and is subtly sweet - and has quite the alcohol kick! Texture is fizzy and lively, a little oily, very pleasing. This one is worth seeking.

~Pours black with red tints and big fluffy brown head. Nice lacing.
~Sweet malty aroma with citrusy hops and subtle chocolate.
~Has a hoppy bitter taste followed by some sweet dark chocolate maltiness.
~Medium feel and a bit dry. Bitter dry finish.
~This is quite the brew. It’s like a smoked IPA. I really dig the hoppiness in this. A very different and delicious beer. I would prefer a little more sweetness to balance out the hops. Just a tad though. I do enjoy the bitter bite.
~As the beer warms the chocolate and coffee flavors come out a bit more. When it’s cold it is very hoppy.

Bottle.
Pitch black with a thick and creamy light brown head leaving lacing.
Aroma: roasted, chocolate mousse, hoppy and fruity.
Taste: chocolate, coffee, lots of licorice, grapefruit and the bitter white stuff under the peel, asphalt/tar/ashes, quite bitter with a long finish.
Quite full-bodied.
Yes, it is a bit harsh, but very nice all the same.

Draft at Bitter Creek Alehouse. This delivered on its promise in nearly every way. Deep, dark and intimidating on the pour, it drinks with kick-butt chocolate-alcohol warmth and goodness, a great American example of style. (#4681, 7/7/2012)

Black body with good tan head. Nose is of smooth chocolate and a little coffee. Taste is also very smooth, layers of flavour, liquorice, tobacco, cocoa, coffee, also charred notes. Enjoyed this a lot, more than previous IS rated, cos it went a lot longer, smotth and slowly warmed. .
