jason (1451), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 12, 2008 Bottle. Thanks to Santa. Poured a nice deep black body with thin head. Aroma is soapy, light grassy hops. Flavor has a nice roastiness to it, light chocolate and malt, light hops. The flavor and aroma do not match at all. That’s a good thing as the aroma does not have a deep stout scent to it and the body has a nice thick roasty stout flavor. There is not too much complexity going on here. What is going on is a nice thick roasty imperial stout. Very quaffable, light alcohol feel and a nice roasty chocolate body.
Sammy (2939), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jun 21, 2008 Pours dark and thick. Breathing in chocolate and roast and C-hops. The drink is lunch itself and so very dangerously drinkable. The throast is coated with coconut and oatmeal, roast and some chocolate and coffee. The hops are there and provide some delightful citrus but altogether undistinguishable. Full mouthfeel. Very good IS. ratman197 (2146), Arvada, Colorado, USA Jun 18, 2008 Bomber poured a translucent deep dark brown bordering on black with a lasting brown head and excellent lacing. Aromas of coffee, bitter chocolate, roasted malt, fruittiness and hints of vanilla and licorice. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of alcohol, roasted malt, coffee, dark fruits and hints of dark chocolate vanilla and licorice with a smooth warming lingering bittersweet finish. Maria (3711), Thisted, Denmark Jun 14, 2008 Thank you Tom/After4ever for this one :) It’s pitch black with a huge, light brown head and a creamy head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, licorice, light mango and chalk. The flavour has sweetness and it’s slightly vinous with ntoes of dark fruits, roasted malt, licorice, light alcohol and a roasted bitterness. It’s really nice, and I suspect it would be even nicer if it was allowed to mature some years. smashteroid (144), USA Jun 12, 2008 Served cold from 22oz. bottle. Pours jet black with a light brown-ish head. Smells deeply of roasted malts and chocolate. The taste is alcohol, coffee, and chocolate. Very good, rich, thick and creamy stout. I am a huge fan. blankboy (2464), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jun 10, 2008 Bottle (22oz) shared with HogTownHarry, tupalev & garthicus -- courtesy of HogTownHarry. Pours a very dark brown, almost black, with a spare diminishing frothy light-brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, almost burnt, alcohol and notes of chocolate and peat. Flavour: Holy alcohol Batman! Along with all that booze there’s roasted malt, some chocolate and green hops. Dry, bitter finish. Hard to gauge how I feel about this. it’s quite boozy -- I think I like it!? I’ll go with I like it.
