3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 yngwie (10798) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - AUG 17, 2012
Bottle, 22oz. Some floaties in this one, else it’s hazy, golden-orange and topped by a small, dense, off-white head. Fluor, something dusty, citrus peel and a touch of maltyness in the aroma. The flavor is on the citrus peel side, with resins and something malty in the back. Full-bodied, pleasantly carbonated. Lasting finish with bitterness and flavors of citrus peel and pine cones. A quite nice one, nothing more. 120817

2.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 BucannonXC5 (580) - San Diego, California, USA - JUL 31, 2012
Poured from a 22-oz. bomber into a pint glass at my house on July 31, 2012 (picked it up for $4.99 at KnB Wine Cellars in San Diego, Calif., on July 28, 2012). Lots of head, maybe 3-4 fingers. Hazy, caramel, toffee color. Lots of thick, frothy, foamy, white lacing on the top. Great retention (foamy) on the sides and the top.
Smelled wet (cascade?) hops. Soap, poor man’s pine, lime. Got a little mint in there as well.
Taste wasn’t much better than the smell. Really bland. Got some pepper spices, which I didn’t smell. Also light pine and soapy notes. Bitter on tongue after.
Light-to-medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Abrupt bitter finish.
Just didn’t think this beer was anything special at all. Skip it!
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 zacgillbanks (1022) - Tyne & Wear, ENGLAND - JUL 22, 2012
Bottle from Coppers in Newcastle. Cloudy orange amber coloured with bitter orange marmalade and tropical fruit flavours and a sweet red fruity and grapefruit finish. Excellent!
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20 fiulijn (12360) - Malmö, DENMARK - JUL 13, 2012
Bottle from Beers of Europe, King’s Lynn Hazy amber color with generous head. The aroma has both a very nice hop (fruits and resins), and dust. Dry toffee flavor, followed by an extreme resiny hopping, leading to an equally powerful and long final. This is one of the few American beer with quite some sediment, but controlled. Straight bold IPA, but without the freshness that it should have.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 jgb9348 (4027) - Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA - JUL 7, 2012
Nice slightly hazy copper coloured body with a large, soapy off-white head that sticks up nicely, around three centimetres. Aroma of fresh herbal and slightly earthy hops with a touch of pine in the mix and a solid base of malt. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong, grassy, herbal and piney hops at the front end with a good malt balance and a slight bitter and metallic note near the end. Aftertaste is nice with a lot of hops, some pine, a bit of grapefruit all meshed around the light alcohol flavour and a stronger malt backbone. Overall, a rather nice IPA - showing a ton of hop characteristics, a lot of bitterness all with a solid backbone of malt. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Super Jr Market (BestDamnBeer Store) in San Diego, California on 06-May-2012 for US$5.99 sampled at home in Washington on 07-July-2012.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20 Yorker (622) - Århus, DENMARK - JUL 3, 2012
66 cl bottle @ home. Pours slightly cloudy amber with some sediment and a decent off-white head that leaves some lacing. Aroma is fruity and piney hops as well as some malt. Taste is fruity and piney hops and some malt.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Aubrey (3347) - Bellingham, Washington, USA - JUL 2, 2012
Resinous, nutty, green, earthy. Malts are wholesome, bready and doughy, with a graham-cracker-like sweetness. Lots of hop flavors. Aromas are somewhat muted and bitterness is on the mild-to-moderate side. Nothing necessarily bad; just some subjective notes. Tastes more like a fresh hop pale ale than an IPA.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Idiosynkrasie (1987) - Bielefeld, GERMANY - JUN 29, 2012
650ml bottle. Cloudy orangey golden colour with average to huge firm frothy lacing white head. Fruity and hoppy aroma, peach, resin. Taste is dry to bitter hoppy, restricted variety of flavours, slightly weak malt basis. Lower average IPA.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 JoeMcPhee (7673) - Toronto, ON, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 27, 2012
Hazy golden pour with a sticky white head. The aroma is a little bit sweet and slightly hoppy with notes of orange and some light mango like character. A little bit of malt-derived sweetness but it doesn’t seem under attenuated. A little touch of something approaching spiciness but it’s only slightly there. Decent - if not great. I do dig that top note in here though.
