3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Strykzone (3866) - Wood River, Illinois, USA - MAR 10, 2012
22 oz. bottle from Hayduke. We had one together via facebook chat. I rolled my bottle as there was yeast sediment. Maybe that is why the head was so big. It is beige in color and leaves tat work lacing and has good retention. The beer is cloudy and tea colored. A nicely hopped aroma is citrus and then pine with some malt. The flavor begins with citrus hops. They are light grapefruit but not overly so. My taste buds appreciate the less than massive bitterness. A bit of orange, perhaps. Yeast, too. The malt was not really caramel and was at one time like oatmeal. Interesting. The finish brought lemon. I liked this beer and could drink a ton of it. Thanks, Ron.

Sampled at the AZ Strong Beer Fest. Dark tangerine pour with a small beige head. Pretty bright hop presence in this one with loads of orange peel and minimal pine. Caramel malt backbone doesn’t distract from the citrus. Also has a hint of marijuana. Pretty decent stuff.

22oz bottle. Rating #18. Hazy light brownish color, bottom of the bottle so it’s a little thicker than normal I’m sure. Toasty hop aroma, almost burnt. Flavor is similar, more toastiness to go along with the hops and a really mild aftertaste. (2159)
3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 bhensonb (9093) - Woodland, California, USA - FEB 5, 2012
Bomber from Whole Foods in Folsom, CA. Pours hazy light amber with a creamy beige head. Aroma is citrus. Med body or better. Flavor is citrus - but not grapefruit. There’s a malt backbone that is pleasantly overborn by hop. So should we appreciate a beer that just obliterates malt with hop? Heck yes we should!!!!!!! Nice dry, bitter finish. Yum.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 swoopjones (4325) - Buffalo, New York, USA - FEB 4, 2012
Bottle at GLBN IPA challenge, orangy golden pour, orange pith, decent bitterness. Balanced. Orange zest, citrusy. Decent

Bomber poured a clear amber with a lasting amber head. Aromas of straw, floral notes and light citrus. Palate was medium bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Flavors of straw, earthiness, light floral notes and light citrus with a crisp dry moderatly bitter finish.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 BMan1113VR (7420) - Los Angeles, California, USA - JAN 29, 2012
Bottle. Pours with a mildly hazed (but noticeably bottle conditioned) golden body with a very large, just barely off-white head. Aromas are of pine, citrus and caramel. Old school. Soapy. That said, there is a noticeable nutty, malt character. Some soil and marmalade. Dry biscuits. Flavors are malt forward. Bready, nutty, biscuity, sunflower seeds. Very bitter. Citrus and pine. Tastes like an IPA that would have been made 10 years ago. Strong bitterness, mildly floral and citrusy hops (little in the flavor compared to other hop attributes). Seems all C-hop (I do wonder if the name hints to Delta hops, but if so I can’t taste them). Nutty, ice tea. Good, but not very good or different. A bit of a co-humulone bite. Some ester that borders on a mild ethyl acetate. Medium bubbles, medium to fuller body for the style. Kind of bummed by the out come here. I do like Beer Valley, and they can make some very solid hoppy beers. This just seems like an IPA brewed by going through the motions. Perhaps harsh, but...
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 SDalkoholic (1812) - Chula Vista, California, USA - JAN 27, 2012
Bottle from Best Damn Beer Shop: Created a monstrous pillow of foam head and left behind a ton of lacing while the beer was a golden honey color. Aroma is bright with a moderate amount of floral hops that suggest citrus and black tea, but there’s also a soft touch of bready malts that give off the scent of corn bread and graham crackers. The drink falls short of having a full body but does suggest that the recipe was generously balanced and aimed for the tame and timid India Pale Ale style. Flavors are minimal with hints of barley malt with a pinch of crystal malt while a bitter bite of hops ends the finish.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 3fourths (7063) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - JAN 11, 2012
bottle. hazy golden amber with a tall and long-lasting off-white head. mild and soft hop aromatics allow the yeast to play: light floral and soap notes but otherwise clean-smelling, though there is some sort of "spice" that actually comes across a bit like turmeric and curry (WTH?). a touch of sweet biscuity malt is allowed to shine given the low hop character (meaning relatively low for IPA). it’s not in your face, it’s not overdone, overhopped, it’s not resinous or sappy, it’s actually quite elegant and beautifully restrained. medium body with some chewiness. somewhat harsh carbonation to go with the moderate hop bitterness, and with a touch of pine resin, but otherwise it’s a nice presentation of sweet honey-tinged cracker malt and soft citrus hops. I do believe this is the first beer from these guys that I find myself enjoying, and it’s bottle-conditioned and unfiltered to boot, and thankfully the unfiltered part isn’t a problem here - the yeast is transparent other than those mild floral and soap notes. well-done.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 CheersMate (1292) - Fremont (Seattle), Washington, USA - DEC 17, 2011
22 oz. bottle from Bottleworks. Hazy, dark copper appearance. The head is thin and wispy. Nothing special here. Soapy aroma, with a light pine and citrus blend. It’s somewhat pungent, and has a decent aroma, but again, nothing special here. Caramel malts, with a long, drawn out citrus and pine bitterness that doesn’t provide a very fresh hop flavor. The long drawn-out bitterness seems contrived, as opposed to complimentary, that is - it’s bitter for the sake of being bitter. The texture is average, and the beer is even a bit hot at times. Decent, but seriously, this is absolutely nothing friggin’ special.
