Nice deep amber color, not much carbonation or lacing. Quite malty up front and sweet. Caramel malt flavors, very sticky. Hops come through right toward the end, but I’d like more of them. A bit watery and thin, surprising for a barleywine. Good but not great.

Bottle. Hazy mid brown pour with thin tan head. Malty aroma. Initial taste was quite harsh bitter. Some malty caramel sweetness developed but never truly hit the spot of a great barley wine. A bit disappointed.

Bottle picked up at Beers of Europe, consumed at Isobel’s, Saturday 11th October 2014 Pours a gloomy looking mid murky brown. Thick and a little syrupy in mouth. Really surprised with this as it is hugely bitter, the bitterness having a hard and quite harsh edge which contrasts quite sharply with the heavy sweetness. Likeable beer but glad I was able to share with dad and Baz. A6 A3 T7 P3 Ov14 3.3

"this beer look and played the part of a prototypical barleywine. but while it had all the elements, it was not as great as the sum of it’s part. caramel malt, hops, slight alcohol presence...check, check, check. decent, but nothing stood out, and the body was average. for the price, i’ll pass."

Bottle at a barley wine tasting. Pours a clear light amber color. Nose has some slight booze on there with a fair amount of caramel coming off it. Taste has some slight caramel sweetness to it, and felt pretty light to me.

Bottle. Bronze with a medium head. Clear appearance and malty with a trace of hops in the background. Powerful presence of alcohol. An excellent beer that demands respect.

On tap at Capitol Beer & Tap Room. Pours cloudy amber with a modest off-white head and a fruity aroma. There is a full-bodied caramel malt flavor with a bitter carbonated finish and a little alcohol burn. Not as sweet as most BWs.

Botella de 66 cl en el lúpulo en septiembre de 2013. cuerpo medio alto con 10 vol bastante notables, aun así se bebe bastante bien. Sabores tostados y quemados dominando los toques dulces. Buena, pero esperaba algo mas.

Biggish beige head. Clear deep dark red body with strong carbonation. Resiny caramelly biscuity aroma with citric spicy wooden notes. Dry-sweet resiny caramelly spicy taste with bubble gum and wood notes. Mid-to-full body. Sharpish mouthfeel. Dry resiny pine needle and wax aftertaste with caramelly wooden spicy notes. Nice, drinkable, but perhaps a little bit old. (0.65l bottle, from Kihoskh, Copenhagen.)

bottled unk Pours copper with off white etched foam. Smells of toffee, nougat, alcohol, sweet grains, some resinous hops and pine in here too. Some vitamin smells in the nose as well. Sweet and alcoholic flavor. The alcohols are harsh and there is a profound sweetness, but as I roll over the entire mouth, there comes out an aspirin bitterness. Mouthfeel is thin with low carb and a dry finish. I remember being at a tasting for Beer Valley a year or so ago and they mentioned aging this beer a full year before release (as a standard) - this did not help so far as I can tell.
