On tap, Pours a dark brown color with a medium white head. Smells of chocolate, spices, and pumpkin. Tastes the same as it smells with a nice added graham cracker flavor. Mouthfeel is medium with average carbonation. Pretty good porter overall everything worked well together.

On tap @ The Beer Junction. Pours thin watery murky dark brown with foamy white head that fades quickly. Aroma is cocoa, spice, and just a hint of pumpkin. Taste is mild chocolate malts, and some nice finishing hops. Pumpkin flavor is there, but pretty subtle. Hard to get past the super watery body. Promising but unbalanced taste needs some refinement. And for an imperial, just needs more... malts, chocolate, and pumpkin.

On tap at Capitol Beer, Sacramento. Pours dark brown with a pumpkin and treacle aroma and a modest tan head. There is a hearty dark molasses flavor with a hint of pumpkin. It’s nice that the pumpkin is not overwhelming.

BARLEYWINEO (106) - Tacoma, USA - APR 28, 2012
A: Poured deep brown with a tannish head, light bubbles and lacing S: Lightly roasted malt, cocoa, and a whiff of fresh pumpkin T: A little bit of fresh pumpkin here but more like someone dropped a few pumpkin seeds in the mash and called it a day. Very disappointing. The rest of the beer was a traditional porter; roasty, cocoa, light booze and medium body. M: Pretty high in carbonation, thin on body for a "Imperial" O: Body was thin, not enough pumpkin to warrant the pumpkin name or style. If you are going to claim a Imperial Pumpkin Porter then you need to bring it because TREAT kicks the shit out of this beer and so does most other Pumpkin Porters

9/8/11@ pap. beer valley jackalope. very dark... imp. porter almost black though still orange at the edges w/ a soft lasting beige head. a is chocolate, ashy charcoal, wood, some fruity business... strawberry? f is quite chocolate-y, some coconut, the aroma notes, cola. great importer but no pumpkin to be found and no pie spice... just a solid, rich creamy importer... when cold. as it warms, some earthy vegetals come out as well as some vanilla... if i didnt know pumpkin was in here i wouldnt be able to pick it out ashy at... mild but delicious. creamy, smooth and yummy. importer=3.9. pumpkin= 3.5

Pours jet black. Really nice spice aroma. Nothing stupendous. Just a solid mix of pie and porter

Surprisingly dark when most pumpkins start as ambers this one is very dark brown. No head. Smells like a chocolate porter with only hints of pumpkin or spice that might not be picked up if not looked for. Tastes more like a porter. Notes of chocolate and if prompted maybe pumpkin. Some spice hidden in the thick dark malt. Molasses note. Tasty but pumpkin???

(On draught at papago). Pours a dark brown with creamy khaki head. Aroma has some cocoa, spice, and some roast. Taste is semi-sweet with lots of roasty bitterness. Medium bodied with a slick, creamy texture. Roasty, chocolatey finish. Pretty good, but not much pumpkin spice flavor.

A dark brown porter with a thin brown head. In aroma, a chalky chocolate with muskey coffee notes, light off notes. In mouth, a smooth lightly sweet chocolate, light pumpkin pulp, a bit musty, medium bodied. On tap at Oregon Brewer’s Fest, July 31 2011.

Tap @ Baileys... Poured black with a khaki head. Lots o roast here with some pumpkin squab flavors. Not over done on spices like a lot of pumpkin beers. Real malty with a thck palate, no noticeable alcohol flavors and a subtle hop balance. More roast and pumpkin on the finish.
