beerguy101 (3408), Newark, California, USA May 10, 2008 This Imperial India Pale Ale pours a deep orange gold color from a 22oz bottle. Medium to large sized white foamy head, with good retention and nice sticky lacing. The aroma is floral and piney hops with some sweet malt. A medium bodied Imperial IPA. The malts are fruity and sweet. The hops are grapefruity, piney and floral. Decent carbonation, I wonder if the bottle conditioning is kicking in. This beer has that “I bet you can tell where I came from” Pac NW hop character to it. It’s a fairly bitter beer, but there is some malt sweetness at the start and the middle to help balance the hop assault at the finish. Nice little yeast shot at the end of the bottle. Hides the 9% alcohol well. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is a lingering bitterness.
ChazMania (272), Pasadena, California, USA Jul 2, 2008 Bomber. Pours with an enormous head of foam, way too much....took a long time to settle down. A decent color of amber and orange. The flavor is mild, not huge. It has some citrus and a little malt, but its not overly signature unique. I’m very surprised that this is a 9% beer, it tastes and drinks like a 6%er. doubleo (626), San Diego, California, USA Jul 2, 2008 22oz bottle. Pours hazy orange with an ultra thin white head, specks of lace. Smells syrupy earthy hoppy with some malt. Tastes syrupy hoppy subdued bitter with some malt. Full body, almost flat carbonation. hopdog (4342), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 2, 2008 22oz bottle acquired in trade with FlacoAlto (thanks!). Poured a medium and hazy orange color with a huge sized off white head. Aromas of pine, citrus, some grassiness, and toasted malts. Aromas on the softer side. Tastes of caramel, citrus, and pine. Alcohol content hidden. juiceisloose (270), Orlando, Florida, USA Jul 1, 2008 Poured a deep golden orange color with a small, bubbly white head. The arom shows notes of citrus and grassy hops with toasty caramel in the background. There was also a slight soapy smell to it. The flavor is much the same with the citrus and grassy hops coming forth with a solid caramel malt backbone. Medium bodied with a soapy mouthfeel that kills some of the flavor. There wasn’t enough there to overcome the soapy flavor. LawStudent09 (310), Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA Jun 27, 2008 Pale hay in color with a thin white head. Floral hop aroma with light fruits. A nice balance of sweet and bitter in the taste.
