ClarkVV (3559), Allston, Massachusetts, USA Jun 14, 2007 Draught pint at Fenway on 5/25/07<br />I’ll admit to not knowing this was supposed to be a helles and knowing that now, I’m a little less impressed. Dosent have nearly the malt flavor or yeast character I would expect. Rather, it’s quite dry and attenuated with a floral hop aroma and flavor that seems more like EKGs than any more exciting German hop. Still, taken as a session blonde ale (or lager, as they say), the crispness is there, with a little bit of yeast bite (though I never once mistook this for a real munich yeast). Some light honey, a bit of seltzer water (lots of carbonation) and light toastiness on the finish. Clear, pale-gold body with a small white head that shows moderate retention and little/no lacing. More like DAB (so I guess it works as a dortmunder). dirtymike (2019), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA Jul 26, 2004 Light golden in color with a small white head. aroma of butter and bready malt. Flavors of butter and floral hops with a crisp malt character. Finishes dry and crisp. Nuffield (2561), Roseville, Minnesota, USA Sep 10, 2002 Some body, but still very light appearing and tasting. There’s a hint of sweetness in the aroma, but an odd titch of astringency in the mouth.
