Jul 2, 2008 Tap at fenway. Pours a deep brown almost blacok with a creamy head. Aroma of roasted malts, black charred almost smokey- light old coffee hints as well. More roast with nutty chocoalte malts, light sweetness, charred acrid burnt malts, and an astringent long finish.

Jun 26, 2008 On tap: The nose showed some smoke, anise and day-old coffee. The palate was rather thin and watery without much depth or concentration. Being an oatmeal stout I would have hoped for a more creamy mid-palate.

4/20/2008: Beer Works Oatmeal Stout is darkish brown (not quite as dark or opaque as the porter) with a frothy tan head. The flavor is roasty with some weak chocolate and coffee notes comibined with a plain, creamy oatmeal-like quality. The beer has a medium to body and a smooth texture. The finish has butterscotch and is mineral-like. Not bad, but not that great. I preferred the porter a bit more...

Dec 16, 2007 Looks good, but thinner-bodied than it should be. Lacks the strong chocolate/oatmeal flavors I was hoping for. Look elsewhere for a good sweet stout.

Nov 3, 2007 On tap at the Fenway location. Dark brown with a nice tan head. Best head retention of any of the Beer Works beers I had. Aroma has a little chocolate, roasted malts. Flavor is similar to aroma. Slightly creamy and smooth mouthfeel and finish.
