3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Clear amber color. Moderate head that settles to a thin layer of fine bubbles. Leaves some slippery, spotty lace.
Smells like a well-balanced pilsner; lots of caramel and a touch of hop bitterness.
Far more bitter than the smell would indicate--it dominates the buttery dry malt flavor. The aftertaste is bitter without any of the subtleties of the finer hop varieties. For the style, this has a rich body with an expected level of carbonation. Overall, a very pleasant APA.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
12oz bottle. Found this to be a somewhat weak and lacking in character pale ale though it did go down easy making for an OK session beer. I think I may have tried this on draft awhile back at their Fenway brewpub and liked it better so the blandness may have something to do with the bottling in some way.

Amber coloured body with white head. Some notes of butterscotch with good amount of hoppiness. Good beer to have before heading back home.

On tap at the Canal Street location. Clear dark amber colour. Lasting off-white head. A clean and refreshing APA with restrained hop presence. Quite dry with a fairly bitter finish. More malty than the average APA. Nice drinking.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Very disappointing Amber color with no head. Slight aroma of hops. Weak flavor with toasted malts and some hop bitterness at the close. Seemed watered down.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Cask at the brewpub. poured a clear medium orange color with an off white head. Well balanced aromas of malty caramel and citrusy hops. Medium bodied and slightly sweet with lowish carbonation from the cask. There was mild to moderate bitterness and the flavor profile included the likes of flower blossom, citrus fruits (lemon, orange), and caramel. Nice, especially from the cask.

Got a chance to sip this side by side with the Back Bay IPA at the Fenway location. Doesn’t come close to the Back Bay. Pours a copper, amber with a very faint, wispy white head. Aroma is mild, grapefruits and lemons and crackers. Flavor is similar. Dry finish.

Ehh, nothing great, boring. Barely any nose, hoppiness and some minor fruits. Dry bitter taste with no redeeming qualities.

An orange amber ale with a thin white head. Light c-hops in aroma with notes of grapefruits. In mouth, a nicely balanced malt, floral hops, with light grapefruit astringence. Light to medium bodied. Honest APA. On tap at Fenway brewpub, Oct. 12 2008.
