Slacks (355), Bolton, Ontario, Canada Jul 4, 2006 Draught @ Fenway Beer Works: My first two choices were out so I settled on this; my initial apprehension was an elitist view that an American brewpub couldn’t do the style justice. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised. The aroma is the best part, so much going on as noted by others. You’ll find the traditional coriander, lemon, banana, and clove with a distinct peppery bite to it. All come through in the flavour, including that unique pepper. It’s a good one, not a great one, but definitely better than I expected.
rcweir (92), Massachusetts, USA Aug 3, 2008 Cloudy orange with reasonable head, strong banana aroma dominate, continuing into flavor and dry finish. WeeHeavySD (1699), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA May 27, 2008 Draft @ The Logan Terminal C bar. Pours gold yellow with a bright white ring. Nose is nice and light fresh and wheaty. Taste is very flavorful, its a big banana hefe yum, I have to say it is very good for the style. Sledge Jr (2708), Omaha, Nebraska, USA Aug 17, 2007 On draft at Fenway location. Cloudy golden color. Extreme banana and clove nose; bartender was adamant that we also sample with a lemon. Even without the lemon, the flavor was basically lemon banana. Very true to style. blinesam (233), USA Aug 4, 2007 On tap at Canal Street location. Perhaps the bartender squeezed the lemon into the glass before draping it on the rim, because unfortunately the beer was overpowered by the lemon taste. Unfiltered and cloudy with a half inch frothy head, we loved the appearance. Some spices evident in taste. Ignoring the lemon problem this is a decent hefeweizen but far from the best or good enough to stop you from trying other beers there. JAF737300 (733), New York, New York, USA Jul 29, 2007 This wheat style beer pours goldn with a nice amount of cloudiness. It offers notes of pepper and bananas on the nose. The fruit flavors show off some of the wheat on the palate and the finish.
