COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A Beer Works Classic! Rich and strong, this tawny red ale is brewed with vanilla bean, cinnamon, and orange peel to give it a decadently sweet flavor, in combination with its warming alcohol undertones.

On draught January 2005 Canal St. I thought this thing was dark brown? Oh well, must not have remembered what it looked like, but I do remember the flavor and aroma. Smells strong of nutmeg, light vanilla and some sweet caramel. Hints of citrus as well. Flavor is rich and spicy, with a big caramel and chocolate sweetness, plenty of ginger and cinnamon (tastes more like nutmeg to me). The mouthfeel is rich and creamy, but with a bit too much carbonation. Bit of thinning on the finish, but an otherwise coating, thick body, which helped stop the tobasco sauce that I was practically drinking with dinner.

From Canal st, had at Fenway location. Ok nose, kind of fruity, figs and ginger. Clean orange color. Spicy sweet flavors, Dried fruits with grapefruit. Medium body, lite creamy mouthfeel. Ginger bitter finish. Nice brew, I got that ginger burn on my lips while sipping.

Amber pour, almost no head. Aroma is malty, maybe some spice in the background. Flavor has upfront malty sweetness, and a little hops in the end, seasonal spices are minimal. Mouthfeel is a bit watery to me. Order the White Christmas instead.
