COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Editor’s note: 527 bottles of 37,5 cl made.

English: Seven Bordeaux Barrel is a very rich Russian Imperial Stout, brewed in October 2008 by 7 of the best brewers in Denmark as a pooling of their individual recipes for the beer. After primary fermentation, this fraction of the brew was racked into an American oak barrel from a Bordeaux winery. After 7 (!) months in the barrel, the beer is intensely complex, full bodied with protruding vanilla, oaky and roasted aromas and flavours. Bitter, dry and smooth on the palate with a long vanilla aftertaste.

Opaque black with a tan head and nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malts, dark chocolate, smoke, strong bordeaux, oak, nuts, and alcohol. Taste of roasted malts, smoke, burnt wood, dark chocolate, winey notes, and some alcohol in the finish. Thanks Shaun and Alex!

375mL thanks to anders37. Pours near ink black with lower carbonation and no head formation. Nose is quite complex and rich- what a treat. Mild red wine brightness, soy, dark chocolate truffle, raspberry chocolate, rich complexities with no off character. Taste is sharply bitter, cedar, mild lactic red wine, raspberry dark chocolate, hints of spritely Chambourd and Godiva blend. Oh man it’s good.

Uber black pour with a thin tan veneer. Ganache, cherry chocolate, mocha, hints of ethanol, roasty cocoa nib, and espresso dominate. Thick silky palate with a syrupy but roasty finish.

Bottle: No.1 / 2009: Thanks SFHOdense for getting me this one! Medium vast brown head on top of a pitch black beer. The pour looks delicious, the filled glass looks even better and the smell that hits the nose is already incredible! The looks and smell of this beer are so promissing! Smell full soft smooth mix of vanilla, soft wood, light hint of roasted malts, soft oakyness, but mostly the vanilla that soft and gently hits the nose. Delicious. Hmmm... Like to smell this all night long, so deep and intense! Taste is a soft smooth light boozy (but so good balanced) mix of vanilla, roasted malts, burned malts, burned wood, medium to full bitter, coffee, espresso, pure chocolate. Aftertaste is maybe the roughest of all, though still not in any way (too) rough. Some deep roasted malts and bitterness in the aftertaste with a hint of oaky vanilla tints. Low carbo, soft ilky mouthfeel, full body and an oily texture. This is supper soft, thick, uber tasty and just in any way delicious! Note: drinking this partly with a cheesecake on the side, another delicious treat!

Bottle. Pure oil coupled with a mighty brown head. Rich aroma of vanilla, chocolate and cream. Taste is insanely smooth, powerful coffee, mild chocolate. Aftertaste is slightly astringent with some bitter tones, a great way to balance the intial velvet force.

37.5cl bottle pours super dark with nice full tight mocha head. The aroma offers up dark roasted malts, burnt malts and burnt on top chocolate brownie. The taste is rich, creamy and yummy goodness with notes from rich dark roasted malts, some burnt malts and a smooth decadent chocolate brownie sensation.

Bottle big thanks to Ibrew2or3- Dave is the man! Pours a pure black color with a medium brown head. A sweet port wine nose, huge dark sugary fruits, woody. The flavor is a heavy roast, some vinous tart elements, brown sugar, dry, very rich. Berries and warm alcohol. Excellent.
