SilkTork (3777), Rochester, Kent, England Jun 28, 2003 Updated: Mar 15, 2007 June, 2003:The Anchor, Sevenoaks. A firm fruity best beer but with a full taste of oak. Yeast, sulphur and fruit on the nose. Glowing golden amber colour. After big fruit rush the finish initially goes empty, then a mild dry bitterness starts to come through along the roof of the mouth, fruit joins in briefly before the mild, dry bitterness is left alone again to end on a salty note. Pulls well above its strength, and reminded me of Abbot Ale. [3.5]
Dec, 2004: Royal Oak, London. Sweet. Oak notes. Smooth and delicious. [3.4]
Aug, 2006 Little Gem, Aylesford. Fucking glorious! This is what beer is all about - fantastically drinkable and thirst-quenching, yet packed with flavour. So tasty you want more and more and more, and to keep on drinking for ever, yet interesting and varied enough to invite investigation and contemplation. Sweet malt and a stunning burst of hops. Fragrant, flowery, infused and floating, earthy and gently spicy, warm hop oil burning on the tip of the tongue. O yes. O yes, yes, yes. [4.7]
March, 2007Kings Head, Battle Awesome. Fresh and unbelievably flavoursome. I could drink this all day. I WANT to drink this all day. In here, in this pub. Die happy. [5]
Skinnyviking (2357), Copenhagen, Denmark Jun 17, 2008 Cask. Low white but lasting fluffy head. Clear golden body. Fruity aroma with mainly peaches. Mild and fruity peaches pear flavor. Low carbonation but a long mild fruity aftertaste. asheft (712), Marburg, Germany May 31, 2008 [cask]
Strong sulfury smell. Clear, dark golden brown with no head. Sulfurous like drinking out of a fermentor leads to a nicely rounded and nutty maltiness with gentle bitterness that blends with a walnut note. Light to medium body, mild carbonation, almost clean, though the sulfur leaves a sort of burnt match flavour in the end. FatPhil (1853), Espoo, Finland May 19, 2008 Cask (Market Porter, London)
Fairly tasty English bitter, but nothing special. Noble hops are the best feature, in traditional style. renffisch (349), london, Greater London, England Apr 29, 2008 piny at the white horse. one of my favourite session beers. quite nutty in the nose. white lacy head and dark amber colour. a lot of wet leather, mossy and wet hay notes in flavour but believe it or i mean that in a good way!!! tompete (48), Burlington, Iowa, USA Mar 31, 2008 Thin white head with a full malty nose. Medium to light body. Has a very hoppy flavor with a moderately bitter finish. Very nice.
