On tap in Newport at Rogue’s Brewpub by the Bay. A crisp American Pale Ale. Touch of juniper blended with citrus and light pine. Mild bitter finish. Tasty.

Weak aroma of lemony malt. Hazy amber, thin head. Flavor is whole lemon. Finishes with a peppery lemon zest bite. Juniper is not at all discernible. Ok beer, but not as advertised.

22 oz bottle. Pours a hazy orangish gold body with a one finger fizzy white head that fell to a thin covering. The nose is pretty light, some light sweetness and pale maltiness with a touch of juniper essence. Can’t say there’s a lot of juniper flavor, but there is a light spiciness that emerges on the finish along with that signature pacman yeastiness. There’s pretty minimal hoppiness for a Pale Ale Lighter bodied with fizzy carbonation. Some lingering juniper notes on the finish. An OK beer at best, can’t say I’d seek this out again.

Bottle. Poured a true gold, but mostly opaque. Small, creamy white head. Fantastic lacing. Aroma of bready malts, citrusy hops and juniper (natch). Pretty good malty backbone, though it’s lacking some on the end. Very bready. The juniper flavor permeates through the entire beer, but really kicks in in the aftertaste. The breadiness and spicy juniper flavor almost gives the impression that I’m drinking a highly hopped hefeweizen. All in all this is a pretty good pale, and I’m happy to have gotten to try a juniper beer.

Pours a nice golden yellow, with a slight haze and a good head. Smells almost vegetal, with a touch of mint. Has a very good mouthfeel, but just an OK beer overall. The taste is not very complex and very plain, I probably wouldn’t buy this again.

Bottle @ home. Clear, light golden orange appearance with a white head. Piney hoppy, juniper, minty aroma. Somewhat sweet pale malty, bready, juniper, minty, moderately piney hoppy flavor. Pretty nice beer.

The aroma is quite impressive, both frutal and floral, though not sweet at all, quite hoppy. Quite a pretty orange beer, white firm foam, moderate not-to-my-taste carbonation. The taste was hoppy bitter, grassy, crude and with the juniper flowing - as to be expected. The aftertaste was somewhat disppointting - although rough and bitter, I found it to be way hoppier and "grassyer" than I’d like, without nothing to balance. Good beer, overall.

Pours deep gold, slight haze, with as mall white head. Aromas were pretty mellow. A slight hop & a bit of malt, but not much. Taste is much like the aroma, a bit flat. I get a bit of hop bitter, and bunch of malt. As I make my way down the glass the juniper starts to make it’s way out. I actually have juniper berries in my pantry that I sniffed to get a fresh idea of what to look for. I was expecting a bit of pine to go with the hops. Palate is a bit light, medium carbonation, with a light bite. It’s not bad by any means, but I was just expecting something different. Overall a bit mellow, but I’d happily drink another.
