Our black ale has a bit of a kick. We add dried red chillies to the fermenter for a hint of fruit, and to create a dry, spicy finish.

On tap. Brewers Beer Bar. Smells of coffe and chocolate. Completely black in color. Taste is amazing with coffee and wonderful hops. Not so much chili. If it hadn't been called "Black Ale CHILI" the rating would be better, because the chili is not so noticeable.

Sinful black color with a fine tan head that leaves some lacing down the glass. Coffee, licorice and a mild spiced aroma. Medium + body. Moderate sweet and a fine bitterness. Soft carbonation. Oily texture. Nice smooth flavor. Lovely chili tail. Coffee, roasted and some chocolate. Nice tasty ale.

Bottle from Un Bout Du Monde, Toulouse, Saturday 15th November 2014 consumed on site. Pours black with a creamy light tan head. Soft in mouth the chilli certainly kicks in but roasty and with tendrils of liquorice floating around. Warmth from chilli very apparent, hops show along with a little spice. It’s very good. Bottle from Bacchanalia, Cambridge. Poured black, with a dense tan head. Aroma of dark chocolate, prunes and spice. Roast malt flavours, with some treacle and an earthy note. Finish was dry, roasted coffee, grassy hop and then building chilli heat at the end; not too overpowering, just a hint.
