COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our black ale has a bit of a kick. We add dried red chillies to the fermenter for a hint of fruit, and to create a dry, spicy finish.

Riktigt mörk bärs, nästan svart. Medelstort skum.

Ingen tvil om tilsetningen, her får du a lingering afterburn. Et typiske deleøl.

330 ml bottle, as Beerbliotek Black Ale Chilli #01, at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 7.6%. Black colour, moderate beige head. Aroma of roast malts, mild coffee and chocolate, hints of chili. The flavour is first smooth, mildly roasty and chocolatey, then a substantial chili burn sets in, and lasts through the long aftertaste (where also some hops are present). Lovely stuff! But one bottle is enough in one sitting, due to the chili heat - the second bottle you can add to your chili con carne.

Shared bottle at Mi2 at Cardinal 15.08.16. Very dark brown. Uneven beige head and lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee and apples. Roated malt, vanilla and very evident chili in taste, and even more chili in aftertaste.

Bottle. Brown in colour, ruby highlights, nice head. Aromas of eoasted malts, chocolate and light chilli note. In taste rosted, medium sweet with light bitterness and chilli aftertaste (flavour is quite strong, spiciness not that much). Expected something more spicy but fortunately I got pretty tasry and balanced beer.

Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 30A). Bottle 33 cl - Batch unknown (BBF 2016.10.20). AROMA: predominant roasted aromas with notes of dark chocolate and some coffee. Slight chilli note background. APPEARANCE: very dark brown color and opaque with ruby highlights. moderate light brown head with medium-low retention and some lacing. TASTE: initial moderate-low roasted malt notes like the aroma (coffee, dark chocolate), followed by a overwhelming spicy-hot sensation from chillies. slight background with notes of peppers. medium-low bitterness with an almost dry and spicy-hot finish. PALATE: medium-low body with medium carbonation. OVERALL: a "black ale" similar to a stout, but with too much spicy-hot prensence, rendering it unbalanced.
