COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Fresh pine and citrus hops meet roasted malts. We think it’s all the things a Black IPA should be.

Bottle split at Ölstugan 1892 Tullen Andra Lång, Goteborg, 23/03/14. Light black with a good sized tan head, nay mahoosive, which eventually settles to a decent covering. Nose is bitter hops, light roast, tropical pangs, light grapefruit, jammy berry fruits. Taste comprises earthy tones, Ribena berry, mineral bite, pine, spice, dark berry jammage, grapefruit, light roast. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close tempered with hop bitterness. Super solid CDA.

Bottle at Olstugan, Andra Lang. Poured mahogany with a frothy long lasting light tan head. The aroma is grassy hop pine needle. The flavour is medium bitter with a lovely smooth medium grass nettle spice roasted malt palate with a long grassy bitter finish. Medium bodied with average carbonation. A superb black IPA. Could drink this all night long.

(on tap @ Mikkeller & Friends); Pours pitch black with tan head. Decent retention and beautiful lace. The aroma is pleasantly hopped and makes me realise I’m quite enthusiastic about the colossus hop and it’s resiny, earthy/herbal character in darker, hoppy beers. There’s also citrusy notes and a malty, toasted notes in there. Oily texture, medium carbonation, medium bitterness and this very pleasant, earthy/herbal dark and slightly toasted finish. Flavour is well balanced with a decent hop bitterness complemented by a little malt sweetness and then some bitterness from the roast. I like this one quite a lot and will now officially begin to look for columbus hops more often!

Draft. A black beer with a lazing beige head. The aroma has notes of citrusy hops and roasted malt, but quite subdued. The flavor is sweet with notes of citrusy hops, roasted malt, and a bit of tar, leading to a bitter finish.
